Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting and reporting of consolidated business results, and the integrity of the general ledger. The Accounting Manager will focus on the General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and cash management functions.
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes. The Accounting Manager will ensure prompt payment to vendors, sales tax authorities, timely accounts receivable collection, and accurate payroll reporting. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations and Human Resources.
Key Outcome:
Core Results:
Support all aspects of the accounting cycle including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Human Resources, Operations, and the monthly close process including variance review, explanation, and disposition.
· Records cash journal entries. Reconciles cash balances to ledger and cash tracker daily.
· Assists with cash application as necessary.
· Manages monthly accrual process (including miscellaneous accounts receivable, prepaids and accrued liabilities) for the company, ensuring all accruals are complete, accurately computed, documented, and recorded.
· Tracks capital expenditures for numerous capital projects and prepares monthly spend vs. budget analysis.
· Maintains the fixed asset register in Fixed Assets CS, including additions and disposals.
· Process weekly payroll journal entries, working closely with the Human Resources department to ensure accuracy.
· Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities.
· Perform analytical reviews of data and explain variances against plan, outlook, and prior year.
· Oversee the weekly cash disbursement process ensuring prompt payment of vendors
· Work with the Operations team to analyze and monitor spending and ensure accurate inventory balances
· Serve as a primary contact with outside audits, including CPA firm financial audits and reviews, insurance or payroll audits or government tax audits.
· Completes accurate state sales tax returns and payments on a timely basis
Organization Development:
· Work closely with cross-functional teams, building relationships and gaining greater insights to the business segments of the group.
· Can work effectively in a remote environment.
· Ability to quickly learn new tasks, while also identifying and developing process efficiencies.
Enterprise Value Creation:
· Support Sales, Human Resources, Marketing and Operations teams on projects that deliver measurable financial results.
· Assist the Controller and Operations Team on special projects and other assignments.
· Support the Management team with daily general ledger posting and reconciliations to maintain accurate and timely general ledger data
· Support systems and business consolidations and assimilation of acquisitions.
· Support the transition to cloud-based Account Payable invoice management
Qualifications/Attributes
· Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Power Query, SUMIFS, nested IF, AND, OR functions.
· CPA Preferred but not required.
· 5 years of accounting experience, with 1-2 years of management experience.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
· Hands on with strong attention to detail.
· Possess a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
· Displays detailed knowledge of the accounting close process, including completion of account reconciliations.
· Demonstrates professional curiosity by challenging the status quo and meticulously looking for process improvements.
