Newport News, Virginia The Executive Chef will provide culinary expertise. They are responsible for the oversight of the culinary team and control's a wide range of Food Service activities so as to accomplish the goals and objectives of the department. Initiates continuous quality improvement projects on an ongoing basis so as to improve key aspects of service. Responsible for the efficient operation of the department and adherence to required policies procedures state and federal regulations. The Manager ensures nutrition service staff follows hospital policy and procedures designed to promote patient safety and reduce health care related injuries. Responsible for ensuring staff follows the proper guidelines for body mechanics hazardous materials and standard precautions to avoid personal accidents and injuries. Requirements Qualifications Education Bachelors Degree, Dietetics/Culinary Arts/Hotel/Restaurant Management or Food Services management (Required) In lieu of Bachelors, must have 5 years of experience in food management or commercial food management in high volume kitchen. Program Graduate, Certificate of completion from an accredited culinary trade school or American Culinary Federation Apprenticeship program (Preferred) Experience 5-6 years Experience in progressive culinary and food management or commercial food production management in high volume kitchen (Required) Skills and Abilities Takes a hospitality-focused approach to all aspects of Food and Nutrition services. Strong culinary skill set, creativity, and business acumen. Ability to lead, inspire, develop, and motivate the culinary team toward service excellence. Possesses an attention to detail, is results oriented, and a strategic planner who works well under pressure. Familiarity with food service technology. Proficient in MS Office Suite. Licenses and Certifications Allergen Awareness Certification - VA State - ANSI-approved Allergen Awareness certificate program within 180 Days(Required) Food Protection Manager - VA State - ANSI approved Food Protection Manager Certification - VA State within 180 Days(Required) American Culinary Federation - American Culinary Federation (ACF) (Preferred) Riverside Health System, Warwick Forest, is a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Newport News, VA, providing independent living, assisted living, and memory care.
