Purpose

The Accounting Assistant would be responsible for managing & responding to the accounts payable inquiry emails plus entering utility and tax bills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and fact-check invoices before sending them to customers
• Maintain and update general ledger and sales journal
• Obtain approval to satisfy vendor statements
• Prepare, fulfill and distribute checks
• Request and process W-9 forms from new vendors
• Prepare and gain approval for POs
• Scan, file and log accounting documents
• Research vendor statements against the payment history
• Communicate with Vendors and key personnel in other departments to resolve any Vendor questions

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent 10-key skills
• Typing speed minimum 50 WPM
• Proficiency with Windows operating system
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel/reporting
• Proficient with QuickBooks a plus
• Proficient with BRIX/BuildPro Construction software
• Team/Service Focused
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High level of customer service focus
• Highly organized and detail oriented in all assignments
• Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
• Accuracy, analytical skills and attention to detail are required
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Education & Experience

• 2 years’ accounting/bookkeeping experience
• High school diploma/GED required
• Some accounting education preferred
