We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. As a Project Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for setting up projects, working with project managers to prepare accurate and timely monthly invoices, manage financial aspects of select projects, and provide support to the finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills and a passion for accounting to contribute to the success of the organization. The Project Accounting Specialist reports to the Controller.

Duties

• Set up new projects.
• Review project budgets, including fee structure, employee time, employee expenses and subconsultants.
• Provide project managers and clients with timely financial reports and budgets status.
• Prepare Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports for project managers’ monthly review.
• Create accurate & timely invoices to meet all contract requirements and submit to clients with necessary backup.
• Monitor receivables and support project managers with collections.
• Assist with employee expense report review, entry & payments.
• Backup AP: consultants, subcontractor, & vendor invoice entry and review.
• Backup AR: post client invoice payments.
• Perform other duties as required.

Experience / Requirements

• High level of accountability, accuracy, efficiency, and trustworthiness.
• Recent experience with project-based ERP system, Deltek Vision preferred.
• Comfortable dealing with numbers and the processing of financial information.
• Experience with reading contracts to recognize project scope, compensation, billing schedule, & travel day allotments, etc.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines and expectations with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and math skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite
• Extensive experience in project invoicing and billing.
• In-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting.
• Confident, professional demeanor and ability to maintain composure in a busy environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, preferred.
