GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for leading many teams focused on developing multiple software applications, overseeing a group of individual contributors and/or managers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and managing project timelines. A key part of this role is providing mentorship and serving as a servant leader to the team, helping them develop their skills and careers. While maintaining a strong technical background in software development, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and lead software development individuals to meet project and product goals
  • Develop and implement software development processes, methodologies, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and quality assurance, to ensure that development goals are aligned with business and customer needs
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, helping them to develop their skills and careers
  • Identify and address technical and non-technical roadblocks to development progress and success
  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Communicate development progress and status to stakeholders, including senior management and customers
  • Develop and implement strategies to continuously improve development processes and methodologies
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and identify opportunities to incorporate them into development practices
  • Maintain compliance with the knowledge requirements outlined on the department intranet site
  • Provide guidance and direction in the performance and professional development of team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • 12 years of experience in a related position
  • Master level supportive and accessible management style, the ability to lead and motivate a diverse staff, to encourage change and growth in both people and programs, and a strong commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Master level interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations.
  • Master level record of success leading a business operation; an approach to management that brings out the best in staff and yields pride, ownership, and a sense of team effort.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Master level technical knowledge and experience in software development
  • Master level understanding of software development methodologies, processes, and best practices
  • Master level ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members
  • Master level problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Master level ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Expert level understanding of business and customer needs, and ability to align development goals to those needs
  • Expert level knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Applicable Bachelors Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
