The Marketing Manager will be part of the Marketing team for Virgin Hotels New York and will report to our General Manager. The Marketing Manager will play a critical role in the development of Virgin Hotels New York overall marketing plan for the hotel and Food & Beverage outlets to achieve revenue goals, drive awareness of the outlets.It is the responsibility of the Marketing Manager to poses the knowledge of hotel and restaurants & bars trends, proactively work together with key leaders to provide strategic direction and ensure achievement of Virgin Hotels New York short- and long-term goals.This position will help lead marketing efforts in the achievement of operational, financial, and strategic goals while focusing on the implementation of a comprehensive marketing strategy. With the support of the Home Office Team, the Marketing Manager will manage all hotel, culinary and beverage marketing campaigns, initiatives and programs, ensuring they are delivered on time and within the budget that the role will help create.As the Marketing Manager you will oversee local marketing strategies on behalf of the hotel working closely with the Home Office Marketing Team (HOT) to achieve revenue goals and drive awareness of the hotel and our dine, drink and entertainment concepts. You’ll be part of a team building incredible and relevant content, marketing campaigns and promotions as well as a social footprint that will express Virgin Hotels’ essence and tone of voice that will engage visitors with insightful and thought-provoking content and help us turn fans, followers and readers into leads and customers. You’ll manage the hotel and food and beverage social networks/review sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yelp, etc.), as well as oversee engagement-driving content including email marketing campaigns, social media, events, reputation management and community outreach. You will collaborate with the HOT in content creation, public relations, digital marketing, influencer partnerships, strategic partnerships and general marketing efforts on behalf of the hotel. 

The Nitty-Gritty:

What exactly you will be doing...

In helping you understand your role in working for a world class organization, the following is a list of your essential job responsibilities. Please keep in mind that this list is not all inclusive and that you may be asked to perform other job tasks by your manager not listed below in the constant quest to provide “out of this world” customer service experience for our guests:

  • Establish a quarterly local hotel marketing strategy in support of the annual hotel and brand marketing strategies.
  • Manage a rolling 120 Day F&B Marketing Calendar in support of the annual hotel and brand marketing strategies 
  • With input and assistance from HOT, create marketing content, in collaboration with internal and external resources, including but not limited to video, blogs, social media posts, emails, website and multi-media content. Ensures that content on all owned digital assets is up to date. Works with DOS, DORM, and DOFB to also ensure that content on third party digital sites that feature the hotel and the F&B outlets are up to date and consistent with owned digital assets. 
  • Day-to-day management of content strategies including planning and management of blog content calendars, social media content calendars and email marketing calendar.
  • Supervise and execute of all marketing activities, promotions and pop-up partnerships. 
  • Ensure consistent message, tone, voice and proper grammar and spelling across all content and communication created.
  • Serve as on-site marketing representative for all tentpole outlet events and promotions and share these experiences on all relevant social channels through Instagram stories.
  • Communicate all promotions in a timely and professional manner to the operations teams by establishing daily/weekly communications and meetings as needed and be responsible for their recording and distribution. At minimum there will be a monthly marketing meeting with all the department heads to communicate and ideate. 
  • Conducts, compiles and analyzes market research and reports results monthly to the General Manager and HOT. Comes up with regular proposals to adjust the overall F&B marketing strategy month by month.
  • Oversee all related customer experience. Monitor social media sites and coordinate response with internal resources. Respond immediately and on brand to customer’s issues and complaints across channels.
  • Understand our brand, products and customers to ensure content meets the marketing strategy and reflects the brand.
  • Understand the competitive marketplace and implement approaches to ensure the F&B outlets and hotel stays competitive in the local market.
  • Maintain, update and grow various guest databases and build weekly and monthly email marketing campaigns and newsletters targeting these audiences.
  • Work with HOT in reviewing digital and printed creative pieces and ensure they are consistent with brand guidelines. 
  • Oversee local PR agency in ideation and execution of traditional PR strategy.
  • Maintain accurate and current tracking systems. Analyze, report, and develop recommendations for optimizing strategies. 
  • Attend and contribute ideas in monthly Digital Media calls, weekly PR and Social Media calls, and weekly F&B Marketing meetings.

Background must-have:

  • Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s in Marketing & Communications or related field.
  • Ideally will have at least 2 years of Hotel and/or Food & Beverage marketing experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working with social media / digital marketing
  • Strong sense of initiative, innovation, analysis, urgency.
  • Able to work independently, professionally and be a good team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
