Who we are:

Very Good Manufacturing runs beverage production for leading alcohol & alcohol alternative brands. We specialize in craft spirits and ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails, and our high speed canning and bottling lines accommodate all TTB approved sizes and fill levels. We have an on-site R&D Beverage Laboratory for private label concepting & formulation.

Our company is growing fast: the Fort Worth, Texas production facility tripled in size in 2023, and we are planning multiple facilities for expansion. We are looking for professional, talented and driven individuals to join our team and grow with the company.

About the role:

The Director, Quality & Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining Very Good’s Quality Control, Food Safety, Employee Safety, and Regulatory Compliance programs.

In this role, they will serve as a key member of the site’s leadership team; in partnership with Operations and Production, they will champion a quality- and safety-first culture, and will direct efforts within a framework of continuous improvement.

Day-to-day, the Director, Quality & Compliance will ensure all finished products meet the quality, integrity, safety and efficacy standards set by the organization, by regulatory standards, and by industry best practices. With the support of Operations, they will build out a focused, capable and effective Quality team.

This is a role that requires involvement and enthusiasm at the ground level, and most days will be half in the office, half out on the production floor. Our ideal candidate enjoys hands-on collaboration, tackling operational challenges, and meticulously crafting a robust food quality assurance program that can scale to multiple high-volume beverage manufacturing facilities.

Compensation:

$110,000 - $135,000 per year DOE

What you'll do:

• Quality Management: Establish and implement a robust quality management system, defining standards, specifications, and processes to ensure consistent product/service quality.
• Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular internal audits and drive corrective actions to maintain high standards and foster a culture of continuous improvement at Very Good.
• Compliance Oversight: Monitor relevant regulations and industry standards, interpreting compliance requirements, and ensuring the company's adherence to all applicable laws and guidelines, with the appropriate documentation, including training procedures, manuals, and SOPs.
• Reporting: Ensure all Quality reports are completed within scheduled timeframes, with robust and meaningful data. (Regulatory and compliance submissions, CAPAs, root cause analyses, non-conformances/holds, complaint resolution, etc.)
• Customer Relations: Communicate with potential and current customers as the Quality expert at Very Good; understand how Quality and Food Safety affect each customer’s unique product and brand; make recommendations as to best practices for running each product at Very Good.
• Quality Team: Responsible for hiring and development of Quality personnel; outlining scope and expectations for new Quality roles; performing employee appraisals/competency evaluations; promote leadership and advancement within the Quality department.

What we're looking for:

• Has a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Science or Engineering.
• 6 to 8 years experience in Quality Assurance; experience with cGMP preferred.
• Must have experience with developing and implementing new Quality Assurance and/or Control systems & processes in a high growth environment.
• Must have experience in beverage manufacturing; alcohol experience preferable.
• Must have experience with 3rd party audits (SQF, BRC).
• Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
