About Very Good Manufacturing:

Very Good runs best-in-class beverage production for leading alcohol and alcohol-alternative brands.

Our first R&D Facility in Fort Worth has four high speed bottling and canning lines, and a full research & development lab on site for private label brands, new beverages, and in-house testing. We tripled in size and output in 2023, and we have multiple larger facilities planned for 2024 and 2025. Our team is growing quickly; it's a great opportunity for both on-the-job experience/skills development and for professional advancement within the organization.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the CEO, our first Director of Engineering will oversee the Production and Maintenance teams, and take the lead on all CapEx/Line Integration projects.

Our ideal candidate for this role has extensive engineering, automation, programming, and mechanical/technical experience in a production facility. We are expanding quickly, regularly installing new lines and equipment, and we are looking for someone who is as excited as we are to ramp up production and build out an exceptional technical team.

Compensation:

$110,000 - $165,000 per year

What you'll do:

  • Manage beverage production operations and output, focusing on equipment/technical/automation solutions to downtime, efficiency, and yield.
  • Drive the integrated maintenance program across the organization, including: the establishment and execution of an effective predictive/preventative maintenance program, work order procedures, and optimized parts inventory.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the 5-year engineering capital plan, including: preparing capital appropriation requests, developing competitive equipment and service bids, releasing purchase order contracts, exercising effective project management, controlling project funds, facilitating training, and reporting on the success metrics.
  • Create and maintain appropriate engineering records, including: equipment records and manuals; drawings, schematics, and diagrams; inspection and maintenance/service reports; legal requirements.
  • Lead line install/integration projects, strategically allocating internal resources and contractors/external service providers.
  • Train, supervise, and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties.
  • Build relationships with equipment suppliers and service technicians to ensure continued alignment and success - before, during, and after project implementations.
  • Work closely with outside agencies such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure plant compliance with current regulations

What you’ll bring:

  • 8 years experience in Engineering, Line Integration, Programming/Automation, or Technician/Mechanic roles in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of beverage manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; programming and automation; packaging line integration.
  • Knowledgeable in facility maintenance, utility operation, maintenance information systems, purchasing, plant stores, and the underlying principles of Total Productive Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Principles, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), EPA and OSHA requirements.
