Vermeer Texas-Louisiana is Hiring a Learning and Development Specialist Near Irving, TX

The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for building and developing programs and systems to help employees improve their skills and knowledge. This role will work collaboratively across all levels of the organization to ensure we are taking full advantage of manufacturer training programs and advancing employees through their career paths.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintains master training database and calendar, reports monthly on certifications and advancements. Updates transcripts and maintains report cards.
  • Works with corporate and branch managers to understand individual employee training needs and ensure employees are enrolled in necessary courses.
  • Executes deliverables for technician and parts certification program including recognition items, trophies, events and ensures execution.
  • Coordinates training calendar and events, including internal, factory and third party. Communicates with and organizes attendees and facilitates travel. In conjunction with subject matter experts, develops agenda and outlines. Works with event specialist to ensure meeting space needs. Monitors training costs and prepares budgets.
  • Coordinates Human Resources bootcamp events; communicates and coordinates with attendees, assigns pre-requisites and assessments, coordinates presenters and facilitates travel needs.
  • Serves as company hub for training requests, documenting needs to share with leadership team and sends requests to subject matter experts for execution.
  • Develops, creates and/or edits training materials including standard operating procedures (SOP’s), PowerPoints, video tutorials and other written documents. Develops materials for continuous improvement boards at branch. Liaises with subject matter experts to understand what training materials need to be developed.
  • Develops and maintains onboarding resources, making updates frequently to ensure accuracy. Manages and populates online learning platform (LMS) with new content to support training initiatives for new hires.
  • Coordinates tech development program, ensuring a consistent training process and evaluation for both high school and technical college students.
  • Coordinates mentorship program, aligning personnel requests with current staff to ensure best fit.
  • Coordinates “centers of excellence” ensuring consistent training is conducted at all locations.
  • Creates tools to evaluate comprehension and retention of training materials.
  • Represents Company at factory, industry, and company events, including meetings and training.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adheres to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field. (Human Resources, learning and development, education)
  • 3 years training and development experience
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Experience with Paycom HRIS a plus.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills. Must have ability to plan, organize, execute, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to flex style and communicate based on audience.
  • Displays integrity and ethical behavior in all situations, flexibility, active listening and reasoning skills, good judgment, and ability to think quickly and make informed decisions and sound recommendations
  • Background check and pre-employment drug testing required
  • Personal appearance must be neat and clean

Certain positions require a valid driver's license and ability to meet requirements of the Company Driver Policy; the Company will review motor vehicle records annually for all employees for whom driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function or when employees must obtain and drive rental vehicles during the course of conducting company business.
