Scope

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/clinic. The position supports both providers and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

Eligibility
A minimum of 1-year previous experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and room them for their provider visit
• Measure patient vital signs and chart
• Interview patient to capture medical history including current medications being taken
• Assist with medical exams as requested
• Prepare and disinfect exam rooms and medical instruments
• Assist in scheduling appointments
• Answer phones
• Review all prescribed services given by the provider with patients
• Update patient medical records as required
• Facilitate initiation of referrals/prior authorizations as requested by the provider
• Respond to electronic requests from providers, pharmacies, home health agencies, etc.

Requirements/Skills

• Work experience as a Medical Assistant or medical secretary
• Associate degree in a medical field preferred
• Pass a minimum of one exam from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Excellent customer service skills
• A high level of professionalism
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
• Proficient in MS Office and patient management software

Reports to

• Clinic Assistant Manager / Clinic Manager

Schedule

• Clinic operating hours, schedule may vary due to provider schedule

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
