Scope:

The Budget Analyst performs technical fiscal work in budget development, control, analysis and review of revenues and expenditures; maintains and reviews financial records and accounts in a variety of areas.

Responsibilities:

• Performs specialized and technical work assisting in the development, maintenance, and analysis of budgets, including but not limited to preparation and distribution of funding allocations, preparation of budget amendments, report compilation and analysis
• Analyzes financial information for the purpose of identifying potential budget variances, compiling statistical information, developing procedures, and conforming to established financial practices and regulatory requirements
• Compiles statistical and financial data from a wide variety of sources (e.g. payroll, fixed assets, company expenditures, etc.) for the purpose of developing budget recommendations; providing summaries to other personnel; and/or ensuring compliance with established guidelines
• Explains and defends recommendations with data and evidence-driven analyses
• Collaborates with management to develop final budget
• Prepares monthly report; explains variances in budget amendments
• Monitors budget expenditures and keeps leadership current regarding spending levels and budget activity
• Analyzes income/expenditure data to determine cost effectiveness of programs, purchases, and activities
• Prepares statistical and analytical reports as requested
• Keeps abreast of such requirements as accounting standards, audit findings, budget changes, and federal and state reporting standards
• Keeps supervisor informed of activities in area of assignment

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting or financial analysis
• Knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
• Understanding of budgeting and regulatory requirements
• Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and databases
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Detail-oriented.

Pay: $72,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
