Description:
The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for receptionist duties for all staff, patients and visitors in the Department of Surgery. The Medical Office Assistant will provide support services in patient insurance, billing and account maintenance under direct supervision of the Director of Physician Billing & Compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs data entry entering patient information into the computerized patient care systems particularly records and automated billing assuring accuracy of data entered for insurance/demographic information only.
  • Assists surgery financial clearance team in monitoring the completion of patient billing & charge ticket for surgical services performed.
  • Establishes, maintains, and updates patient financial files and activity summaries.
  • Monitors and updates comprehensive patient records.
  • Works independently in monitoring work queues and/or outlook calendars.
  • Operates office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, and uses word processing, spreadsheet, and other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories and medical records.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
