How You’ll Contribute:
As Unicon’s Business Development Director, you will identify, attract, and acquire new business to further Unicon’s revenue and growth goals. This includes both B2B and B2C opportunities. As a first contact representing Unicon, the Business Development Director (BD) educates clients about Unicon’s services/solutions in order to develop relationships, and increase sales by contacting potential clients directly.
Unicon Business Development Director (BD) is responsible for selling education technology solutions focused on content optimization, technology, and identity and access management for K-12, Higher Education, and Workforce. This includes territory development, prospecting, sales cycle management, and engaging with market leaders and education technology partners to build a trusted advisor relationship. The emphasis is on new customer acquisition and revenue growth leveraging broad consultative engagements. The BD will also maintain and grow the existing customer base. Uncovering and sharing market trends and competitive information will be an ongoing requirement.
Position Responsibilities:
Proactively prospect and conduct introductory calls/meetings to identify C level contacts and cultivate business opportunities
Primary lead generator not afraid to make a cold call, network, and create new client engagements
Demonstrated experience developing leads and utilizing existing C level contacts to go out and find opportunity. Build and maintain an active C-level pipeline of new qualified leads through your existing network and proactive outreach
Proactively utilize marketing resources to grow network
Viewed as a trusted advisor to clients
Attend industry conferences, participate in related member organizations, and Unicon hosted events. Convert leads from marketing campaigns in order to consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue goals
Develop and maintain detailed and updated opportunity matrices in Hubspot.com for each account to insure that the appropriate sales support resources can be available and to assist in the preparation of accurate and timely forecasts
Research market trends and create new opportunities to increase sales
Collaborate with internal teams to construct deals that meet profit goals and delivery expectations
Maintain strong understanding of services/solutions, and innovate new ways to serve clients/markets
Execute a sales strategy designed to exceed sales projections and provide feedback that is valuable to defining future strategic changes
Help build and leverage Unicon brand awareness and value propositions within your assigned territory
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience
A minimum of 10 years enterprise sales experience selling education technology solutions
A minimum of 10 years experience in complex solutions-based selling with a sales cycle of 3-6 months or longer and average deal size in excess of $100K
Extensive experience selling to C-level buyers (CIO, CISO, CAO, CFO, Department Directors)
Position Qualifications:
A self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach who is able to work independently to achieve results; innate drive to succeed and take initiative
Strong knowledge of strategic and consultative selling; expert understanding of solutions and the ability to innovate new ways the solutions can serve customers
Curiosity and understanding of K-12, HED, and Workforce markets, decision-making processes, trends, and opportunities based on Unicon value propositions
Demonstrated ability to develop new, strategic client relationships
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (includes presentation skills through the use of technology and ability to express technical and nontechnical concepts clearly and concisely)
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow-through/follow-up
Strong organizational skills to meet goals and set priorities;
Engaged listener able to determine customer needs and present the appropriate solutions
Superior influencing skills, able to present strong value propositions
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex solutions effectively to decision makers
Ability to work in a virtual environment
Note: Due to the pandemic, the business development process relies primarily on virtual channels: video conference, online demo, webinar presentation, phone. Very little travel is required at this time.
Travel is expected up to 50% under non-pandemic circumstances
Education technology industry knowledge highly preferred
Excellent computer skills and experience using CRM software
