The Trauma Program has the responsibility of Trauma Program data abstracting and reporting. The purpose of this position of Registrar is to maintain the integrity of the Trauma Registry (inpatient, outpatient, and other established criteria), which contains patient care data from the following phases of care: prehospital, emergency department, hospital course, and final outcomes. The incumbent is responsible for assuring the accuracy of all components of the database, producing reports, and participating in complex database management processes. The incumbent also monitors accounts for the Trauma Program and assists the manager to ensure proper use of the monies if needed. The incumbent serves as a liaison to Patient Financial Services to support the billing of facility fees for the Trauma service, per UCDH, Federal, State, County, and/or third-party payer policies and guidelines as needed. The Trauma Program also has the responsibility for providing public and professional trauma education. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support Course offered at UC Davis Health.

This is accomplished using effective performance measures to collect reliable data and by addressing processes that have important direct or indirect effects on patient outcomes including those that cross internal and external organizational boundaries. The Trauma Program is also committed to community outreach, prevention, and education. UC Davis provides optimal care to the critically injured patient in accordance with regulations for Level 1 Adult and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma centers.
