Sacramento LGBT Community Center is Hiring a Youth Program Manager (Serving El Dorado, Placer, Yolo Counties) Near Sacramento, CA

REPORTS TO: Deputy Chief Program Officer

STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full Time

COMPENSATION: $66,500 per year

LOCATION: Placer, El Dorado, Yolo, and Sacramento Counties, CA

JOB SUMMARY: The Youth Program Manager will lead outreach efforts in the neighboring counties of El Dorado, Placer, and Yolo, to improve access to mental health wellness programming among LGBTQ youth in those areas. The goal is to create safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQ youth to seek respite free of harassment, bullying, and rejection from peers. This role will be responsible for coordinating efforts across the three counties including organizing youth advisory boards, hosting pop-up events, and creating mental health wellness programming. This position is a managerial role that will oversee staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Organize youth advisory councils comprised of youth from target counties.
  • Develop written implementation plans including afterhours/on-call support for crisis intervention at remote sites.
  • Meet with prospective collaborators/space partners in the three target counties to formalize partnerships.
  • Develop calendar of programs and activities for sites in El Dorado, Placer, and Yolo counties.
  • Set up program spaces at remote sites.
  • Create marketing materials and develop plan for dissemination.
  • Research currently available local resources and evaluate for LGBTQ cultural competencies.
  • Compile resource and referral directory.
  • Establish referral relationships with county and county-contracted providers
  • Link youth to essential care and services in their counties
  • Create trauma-informed, culturally humble intake processes for youth in drop-in spaces
  • Train and oversee outreach staff who will work along side you in service delivery

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Draft progress reports on grant deliverables.
  • Coordinate meetings, activities, workshops relevant to the program.
  • Participate in staff meetings, department meetings.
  • Conduct data entry to measure number of participants in drop-in space.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Passion for the Center’s mission and work to create a region where LGBTQ people thrive and a commitment to follow all policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; public speaking, facilitation, coalition building capabilities to balance interests and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in an intersectional environment.
  • Expertise in the area of LGBTQ identities, the intersectionality of gender, race, sexuality, and age.
  • Understanding of grant project activity design and data collection to ensure contract deliverables.
  • Flexibility of schedule, including some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong preference for applicants who are multilingual (Spanish, Vietnamese, Hmong, Cantonese).
  • Strong preference for applicants who have experience managing volunteers and staff
  • Strong preference for applicants who are familiar with the dynamics and challenges for LGBTQ in rural counties like El Dorado, Placer, and Yolo.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

REQURIEMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in community organizing and advocacy, marketing or communications, gender or ethnic studies, social work, public health, or relevant field. Three years of directly related work experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • Proficiency working with computers and Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, database systems, and social media tools.
  • Access to reliable automobile transportation with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required. This position may on occasion be required to travel by air or rental car.
  • Offer of employment may be contingent on satisfactory results of a criminal history background check.
  • Employees must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
