POSITION OVERVIEW: The Chamber seeks a business development professional to join our team and contribute to the growth of the Chamber’s membership, focusing on new and underdeveloped industries. The Director will drive forward relationships with C-Suite decision-makers to share the Chamber’s value proposition and sign on new members. The Director will lead the sales cycle, start to finish: identifying new prospects, establishing senior-most connections at prospective companies, leading the membership sales pitch and follow-up, and on-boarding new members to the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with the strategy and research department to identify new prospective companies that are strong membership targets. Lead the sales outreach to make contact with prospective companies and schedule pitch meetings. Lead the complete sales cycle, from initial outreach to membership on-boarding. Meet or exceed individual annual revenue goals. Constantly observe the market to identify emerging companies and sectors that could be strong membership prospects. Stay engaged and up-to-date with Chamber policy priorities and advocacy efforts. Be a collaborative partner with the Chamber’s membership management team to ensure new members are on-boarded smoothly and impactfully, as well as assist in annual renewals when needed. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in a fundraising/sales or business development role. Past work experience in professional services, political fundraising, membership organization, government affairs, communications agency, or media company, preferred; direct revenue responsibility, required. Superior relationship management experience and sales skills; strongest client service ethic. Strongest presentation and persuasion skills; confidence when conversing with of C-Suite leaders from large corporations in a business development capacity. Demonstrated ability to build trusted C-suite level relationships and to leverage those relationships to unlock revenue. A growth and learning mindset characterized by openness to challenging assumptions at the organization and personal levels. Strong techniques around guiding sales messaging with diplomacy, tact, and sensitivity for a range of audiences; organizational and business savvy. Deep intellectual curiosity and a passion for policy, with an ability to unpack complex topics to turn them into digestible, compelling sales opportunities. Ability to effectively articulate the Chamber value proposition to our members, with an interest in politics and policy and a deep appreciation for the contribution that the Chamber makes to the business community at large. Highly collaborative and a self-starter. Data-driven approach to utilizing a CRM, such as Salesforce, to track progress, identify trends, and drive results.
