Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Employee Relations Manager who will be responsible for employee relations and compliance in our Tucson, AZ and Dallas, TX locations. This position is an onsite role and will be based out of the Tucson office. The Employee Relations Manager will work closely with our in-house employment counsel and the Head of ER and will be responsible for day-to-day conflict resolution, providing recommendations and guidance to management regarding employee-related issues, including discipline and termination, conducting internal investigations and helping ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, the Employee Relations Manager may also be asked to assist in developing and conducting compliance and other training for employees. .This position will report to the Head of Employee Relations and have a dotted line to the local HRBP lead and will also work closely with internal employment counsel. Some travel to Texas and San Diego may be required. 

Opportunity, Responsibilities, & Mission

  • The overall mission of the role is to provide employee relations expertise for these two office locations, including managing employee issues and related investigations and assisting in the handling of disciplinary and termination actions..
  • Daily tasks will include meeting with employees and/or leaders to address, manage and provide guidance with regard to employee-related concerns and issues.
  • Assist internal employment counsel in the handling of employment related administrative claims and lawsuits.
  • Maintain a report log of ER issues.
  • Assist with ER-related education and training, including new manager and compliance training.
  • Complete investigations in a timely manner and provide recommendations to the Head of ER and internal employment counsel. 
  • Provide recommendations and input related toER-related policies and processes.This position will report to the Head of Employee Relations with a dotted line to the lead HRBP in the Tucson office and will also work closely with internal employment counsel.

Experience & Skills - Required

  • Bachelor degree in Employee Relations, Human Resources or related field required.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant state (AZ & TX) and federal labor and employment laws.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Skilled in dispute and conflict resolution.
  • Significant experience in conducting internal investigations.
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time

Experience & Skills - Preferred

  • At least two years of experience in employee relations OR its equivalent through training, education, and other experience
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
  • Experience with Labor Relations
