Turnaround Management Association (TMA) is searching for an experienced, project-orientated administrative professional who takes the initiative, has strong written/verbal communication skills, precise attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills. The qualified individual will act as the right-hand person to the CEO; as such, the role will manage a broad and diverse range of responsibilities and relationships, both internally and externally. Turnaround Management Association (TMA) is a premier, professionally diverse non-profit organization in the corporate restructuring, renewal, and corporate health space. Established in 1988 and located in downtown Chicago on Wacker Drive, TMA has nearly 10,000 members in 55 chapters worldwide, including 33 North American chapters. Members include turnaround practitioners, attorneys, accountants, advisors, liquidators, consultants, academics, government employees, and members of the judiciary. What is the Opportunity?

Working directly with the CEO, the Executive Assistant to the CEO will interface with the global HQ team and volunteer leadership to manage administrative duties and undertake project support duties on behalf of the CEO, including governance/board relations responsibilities. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Management and oversight of administrative matters for the CEO, including meeting/travel scheduling and coordination of chapter and conference visits with global leadership.
  • Manage other administrative tasks as requested by the CEO, including keeping monthly expense reports up to date for submission to the finance department.
  • Oversee and support general front office duties to aid the HQ team in assuring that the HQ office runs smoothly.
  • Responsible for maintaining a well-equipped office which includes copiers, kitchen supplies, and office supplies and computer/technology for members of the staff.
  • Support the CEO in governance matters, including acting as liaison to the global board of trustees, governance committee and nominations committee.
  • Lead the preparation of committee agendas and board meeting packets for virtual and live meetings, interfacing with global senior team members in obtaining relevant materials for those agendas and packets.
  • Support the CEO on special projects involving domestic and international chapter relations and strategic planning execution.
  • Develop and deliver communications on behalf of the CEO, including but not limited to correspondence, email communication, and meeting materials.
  • Attend internal and external meetings and conferences (2-4 per year) to aid in conference support along with members of the TMA Global HQ team.
  • Research and aid in the development of new initiatives and opportunities as requested by the CEO.
  • Interface and/or act as a liaison to designated global committees at the request of the CEO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Location (Hybrid): Minimum three days working in our Chicago office, typically Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays (periodically some Mondays dependent on business needs); other days virtual. Flexible with occasional domestic travel to on-site TMA conferences/events (2-4 times a year).

Relocation assistance will not be provided.

TMA requires employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as defined by the CDC unless a religious or medical exemption is granted.

What qualifications are needed?

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Five plus years of administrative/project management experience.
  • Experience working with volunteer leadership/volunteer committees and some basic knowledge of board governance is preferred.
  • Experience with Zoom, Office 365, and database management; working with MS Teams/Office Suite, SharePoint/Asana -or equivalent project management system is a plus.
  • Experience working with Board/voluntary committees and knowledge of Board governance preferred.
  • Exceptional organization and prioritization skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; adjusting timetables based on demand and circumstances with the capacity to anticipate needs and look ahead.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to effectively drive priorities from conception to completion.
  • Excellent customer service orientation with demonstrated experience managing a broad range of relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
