STATUS: Exempt

WORKING HOURS: Typically, between 9-5pm M-F (open to some flexibility just ask!) 

WORK LOCATION: Corporate Office - 32 Crosby Dr Bedford MA 01730 (4 Days a Week in office, 1 Remote, additional flexibility available on as needed basis)

POSITION PURPOSE: 

Thermacell is seeking a new member to our amazingly passionate and dynamic 4 person People Team who understands the difference between traditional Human Resources & People & Culture leadership (bonus points to cover letters that explain the why!). Reporting to the VP of People & Culture, this highly visible role will help plan & drive strategic people initiatives and help manage day-to-day human relations tasks for our employees in Bedford MA Corporate, and Beyond (Remote & International). 

We are looking for a strategic and empathetic partner who will act as a sounding board and thought leader, coach senior leaders, managers, and employees, and become a trusted advisor to the business as we scale.

This role will offer the right candidate great exposure of end-to-end People Operations in a fast-growing mid-size company with a diverse workload and lots of opportunity to learn including our ever-expanding international footprint.

Success will look like a driven and empathetic person who assimilates to our culture quickly building relationships at every interaction, rapidly resolving employee and manager requests and issues, and executes People Team initiatives with the right balance of quality and speed. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee & Manager Relations

  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with employees & functional leaders – develops ongoing meeting cadence.
  • Serves as the point person for Bedford & Beyond employee relations. Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; in collaboration with key stakeholders (handling requests, complaints, investigations etc.) escalating and reporting where necessary.
  • Provide strategic HR business partnership in a coaching/advising capacity to senior leaders and people managers to impact engagement, productivity, development, and retention of talent.
  • Seeks feedback on a regular basis to ensure HR partnership is evolving/improving at all times
  • Supports managers with offboarding processes. Prepares employee documentation, and conducts exit interviews as needed.
  • Supports managers with onboarding processes for new hires best way to integrate new hires and ensure they have what they need to be successful.
  • Conducts & reviews 90 day surveys for new hires and partners with employee and manager for feedback and early resolution on any outages.
  • Reports at least weekly to VP People & Culture on all employee relations issues status and tactics for resolution.
  • Participate in internal resource groups, committees, and councils, support execution of related activations, events, and initiatives.

Compliance 

  • Owns compliance strategy and end to end execution. Rigid where helpful, flexible where necessary.
  • Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation to people managers and employees; provide input on policy development.
  • Maintain employee handbook and other policies ensuring legal compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices as required to maintain compliance.
  • Creates, documents, communicates on new policies and procedures where needed.
  • Creates training program as needed for managers and employees to ensure adherence to company policies reviewing and refreshing on a regular basis.

Talent Management & Development

  • Serves as Business Partner to leaders of people on recruitment process end to end.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers as required to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Occasionally interviews for culture fit and facilitates hire of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Supports managers with tools, templates & training in support of the end-to-end employee lifecycle.
  • Manages & measures semi- annual performance review process.
  • Manages & measures semi- annual development process. 
  • Manages Rewards & Recognition Programs - including but not limited to roll out, submission, selection, and awards execution.
  • Coaches & proactively trains leaders of people on all talent & development processes.
  • Participates in identifying, implement, evaluation, and monitoring of training programs to ensure success and training objectives are met.
  • Facilitate creation, maintenance, and reporting of succession plan data, including insights and gap analysis.
  • Leads career pathing process with leaders of people.
  • Assists VP with top grading and succession planning processes - consult to support assessment and evaluation of talent, analyze needs, and assist with action planning; support execution of resulting action plans to continuously develop internal talent bench.
  • Partner with HR Generalist to upgrade the onboarding process with an eye on Employer Branding

Miscellaneous

  • Maintains current knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Utilize data to derive insights on people trends to recommend, implement, and manage projects and programs.
  • Deliver an annual People Team KPI deck for key stakeholders to ensure we are measuring what matters.
  • Suggest process improvements and propose projects that will support continuous improvement of team’s operating procedures and service to staff.
  • Partner across People Ops teammates to support and deploy programs throughout the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this position will include a competitive base salary and an annual incentive bonus program-details proved separately. Benefits for this position will consist of vacation benefits at a competitive level & 10 paid company holidays. Additionally, a company shut-down period is offered for one week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Forty hours of sick time is also available on your first day of employment.

You may start contributing to our 401k after completing 30 days of service (enrolling on the first of the following month). You will be eligible for the employer match up to 4% (base salary overtime wages - subject to the IRS legal limit) after completing one year of service.

Requirements

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Relations, related field or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 7 yrs. of Total HR Experience, at least 5 yrs. of experience as an HRBP/Generalist advising leaders on talent and employment situations in at least a mid-size company.
  • HR Certification such as SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP).
  • Proven experience in coaching, counseling, and negotiation with tact.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching leaders up to Director level to build world class teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. International a plus!
  • Strong project management skills, managing multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, effectively conveying complex information.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, using data to drive talent management decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgment, maturity, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
  • Proficient with HRIS Experience (Paylocity a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
