The Historian is Hiring a Chef Near Sawyer, MI

The Historian Lounge is one of Harbor Country's newest restaurants and cocktail lounges located in Sawyer, MI. We are searching for an experienced, creative, and passionate Head Chef to not only join our team, but to lead our kitchen and special events. The ideal candidate should thrive in a busy atmosphere and handle the pressure of a busy kitchen with both stamina and great attention to detail. You MUST be a team player and understand the bigger picture.

Duties:
- Direct kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and cleaning

- Assign tasks and supervise line and prep cooks in the preparation and presentation of food

- Work with Executive Management on the creation and development of innovative and delicious menu items

- Ensure food quality and presentation meet high standards

- Train and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safety procedures

- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed

- Make sure that all kitchen staff and front of house staff adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a clean and sanitary kitchen

- Collaborate with Executive Management to align kitchen operations with the overall goal(s) of The Historian

- Collaborate with Executive Management to plan and execute special events and catering functions

- Serve as chef for special events and catering functions

- Resolve any issues that arise to ensure our customers continue to receive the exceptional food quality and service they are used to

- Perform other job-related functions as needed or assigned

Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:

- Minimum 3-4 years experience in the culinary arts or related field

- Proven experience in restaurant/food service management

- Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team

- Extensive knowledge of food production, food management, and kitchen management

- Ability to produce high-quality food

- Good communication skills

- High level of attention to detail

- Ability to adapt to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes

- Ability to work unsupervised and delivery quality work

- Ability to remain productive when pulled in many different directions
