POSITION OVERVIEW
This position requires strong negotiation and organization skills and good judgment, as well as the ability to work well with other departments and maintain strong interpersonal relationships both inside and outside the hotel. The primary responsibility is prospecting, selling and servicing all group business within assigned market segments. This role is to sell and service in accordance with the hotel’s business/marketing plans, keeping detailed activity records and correspondence to meet or exceed budgeted rooms and catering department revenue goals. This role will also assist the Director of Sales with any other needs as they arise.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Actively solicit and book business following hotel standards with a heavy focus on April-December SMERF bookings.
· Monitor and handle all inquiry calls in a timely basis.
· Meet with clients to work out the details of their requirement for rooms; suggestively sell hotel features and benefits.
· Responsible for development, solicitation and maintenance of accounts in assigned market segments to meet or exceed budgeted goals.
· Participates in industry and civic organizations and all local community functions representing sales opportunities for the hotel.
· Analyze and estimate the total value of each piece of business and negotiate the best contract to achieve optimum revenue for the hotel.
· Respond to all correspondence from assigned market segments and individuals, and trace dates for reworking and follow up.
· Make personal visits, when necessary, to target areas and call on companies and associations located in a specific market or area.
· Provide excellent guest service to all clients.
· Rework and maintain old account files and solicit new accounts.
· Set-up and conduct site inspections and follow through.
· Attend trade shows pertinent to assigned areas and attend meetings, seminars and functions through membership in association.
· Perform general office duties and assist other personnel, as required.
· Maintain a constant contact with Corporate and Association meeting planners; maintain membership and contacts in hotel industry associations.
· Maintain a positive working relationship with all departments and coordinate with relevant departments throughout sales process.
· Stay abreast of industry trends and make recommendations of changes, which would affect operations.
· Maintain accurate forecast and recap information.
· Work on weekends and evenings based on demand. Light travel may be required.
· Meet sales goals as outlined by the Director of Sales on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
· Full knowledge of Marriott Sales Tool CI/TY
· Knowledge of Lightspeed PMS system is a plus
· Requires knowledge & experience in local SMERF market
· Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
· Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
· Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
· Follow all company policies and procedures.
· Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets; protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.
· Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance.
· Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
Ensure a professional appearance, a clean uniform, and adherence to other company appearance standards.
