The Bean Restaurant Group is Hiring an Executive Chef Near MA, MA

Bean Restaurant Group is opening a new modern American eatery in the heart of downtown Springfield. We're looking for an Executive Chef who is passionate about hospitality, leadership, and great food done right. Our 164 seat restaurant will feature small plates, hand-crafted pasta, and seasonally inspired entrees along with a creative and playful beverage program. This is a unique opportunity to join Bean Restaurant Group and help establish our new restaurant as a flagship in the Springfield community.

Pay rate is competitive based on experience and includes quarterly bonus.

The Executive Chef will oversee all day to day operations in the kitchen:

  • Oversee and manage all areas of the kitchen and make final decisions on all kitchen related matters.
  • Enforce food safety and sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen to the highest federal and state standards.
  • The development and creation of day to day menus, event menus, and specials.
  • Keeping up the quality of the kitchen operations and product to the highest standard.
  • Source quality talent, hire, train, and develop all kitchen staff.
  • Applying set rules and standards for the HOH, and teaching your staff how to execute these initiatives.
  • Handle all BOH staff scheduling and forecast labor needs. Accountable For HOH of the Budgets and overtime issues.
  • Checking in on dish, prep and line employees weekly. Making sure your staff is engaged and that their morale is up.
  • Perform written/oral performance reviews for other management direct reports
  • Work with daily and weekly food costs to optimize the bottom line.
  • Ordering intelligently, planning and forecasting accurately.
  • Setting pars.
  • Administering and overseeing portioning and installing portion control initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Culinary degree is preferred. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative
  • Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, and sanitation
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Three years of experience at the Executive Chef level preferred, but we will train the right restaurant candidate who shows a willingness to learn in a collaborative environment
  • Must be food handler certified

WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time position includes day and evening shifts as well as weekend shifts.
