Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Engineer tocontribute to the design and development of new automation equipment lines inTabless for our advanced cell manufacturing equipment for our cutting-edgeTesla Energy Batteries.

The Battery is one of the most complex and challengingcomponents designed and manufactured at Tesla. This is an exciting opportunityto build a world class manufacturing facility right here in the Bay Area. TeslaMotors is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on acritical subsystem of incredibly exciting products.

The Equipment Engineer will also work with cross-functionalteams throughout the entire lifecycle of the product and processes. He/She willwork closely with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing), Quality and Processteams to fix production equipment issues and support NPI team to bring the newproduct from initial design, through prototype development and finally intofull production.

• You will be responsible for providing engineering support tothe production and maintenance team when needed
• You will be responsible for Validation and characterizationof new/current equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor
• You will lead safety and ergonomic improvements toproduction equipment which meets or exceeds regulations or best practices
• You will collaborate with external equipment suppliers onequipment design and improvement
• You will work with Controls engineer to troubleshoot andrecover processes by PLC, HMI, or tool management software, and implementchanges/improvements
• You will be creating detailed Manufacturing Instructions todefine new processes and document new equipment operation
• You will develop preventive maintenance procedure and acomprehensive spares list to maximize OEE of equipment
• You will be training technicians and line operators onmanufacturing processes
• You will Debug and optimize automated processes to maximizecycle time and specify hand tools for manual assembly tasks
• You will manage Continuous improvement projects to driveequipment improvements based on PFMEA/ DFMEA risk assessment

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, ElectricalEngineering, or equivalent
• 3 years of experience as a hands-onmechanical/manufacturing Engineer working on automation and/or solvingelectromechanical systems and software systems
• Demonstrated experience ramping equipment into manufacturing- automation equipment, web handling, Laser welding, design ofelectromechanical systems, PLCs (TwinCAT Preferred), motion controls, and datacapture
• Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixture, andtooling in CAD (SolidWorks, Catia is a plus)
• Demonstrated experience in reading layouts, toolingdrawings, Pneumatic and electrical schematics
• Preferred experience with Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence,Wintriss, etc.)
• Willing to work on weekends to support production whenneeded
• Willing to travel (10-20%) as needed
