What to Expect

As a Tesla Associate Facilities Engineer, youwill have the opportunity to operate and develop one of the largest and mostsophisticated operating manufacturing facilities in the world. You will havethe opportunity to assist in driving towards world-class energy efficiency andminimize environmental impact through first principles operational philosophiesand unprecedented operational flexibility. A Tesla Associate Facilities Engineerwill work closely with system operationsand engineering experts to continuously develop andimprove these state-of-the-art systems that will help accelerate the world'stransition to sustainable energy.

A Tesla Associate Facilities Engineer has theresponsibility to monitor and operate critical facilities equipment to ensureuninterrupted service to production areas and equipment. The associate facilities engineer is also responsible forensuring all facilities equipment is operating in the most efficient mannerpossible to ensure that Tesla facilities meet aggressive safety, efficiency andsustainability standards that exceed industry standards.

What You'll Do
  • Operate and monitor all HVAC, hydronic, and otherutility equipment in a 24hr production facility to ensure reliable service toall areas of the site. Systems include: Chilled water, heating water,compressed air, medium voltage electrical distribution, VOC abatement, chemicaldelivery, and chemical recovery systems
  • Start and stop equipment as well as maintain facilityoperation through control software
  • Provide support for new equipment installation, startup,commissioning, and sustaining operations
  • Perform routine operator rounds of equipment and systems
  • Troubleshoot alarms and instrument readings thatfall outside of normal operating parameters
  • Champion and observe all safety policies during theexecution of required tasks
  • Improve the reliability of equipment and systems throughcollaboration with teammates and facilities engineers
  • Participate in engineering design and analysis tasks tosupport ongoing improvement projects on the site
  • Work from schematics, piping and instrument diagrams,layouts, plans, and written/verbal instructions
  • Implement and sustain standard organizational practicesand adhere to 5S practices
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor'sDegree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering or 2 years ofcollege/technical school or equivalent work experience
  • Mustunderstand basic mechanical, electrical, SCADA and automatedcontrols system operations
  • Experiencewith chemical handling and electrical distribution is desired
  • Opento schedule flexibility that will allow for a variety of shifts, includingdays, nights, or weekends as needed
  • Outstandingverbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare and present reportsand/or PowerPoint type presentations is essential
  • Excellentcomputer skills using the Microsoft Office platform (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,OneNote, etc.)
  • Competencyin using most of the following software tools is desirable: Bluebeam, AutoCAD,Revit, BIM 360, Navisworks
  • WearingPersonal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses,safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
  • Ability to wear a full-face air-purifying respirator whileperforming mildly or moderately exertional tasks for 4 consecutive hours, up to12 hours per day
  • Abilityto sit, stand, and/or walk for 10 hours per day. Lift at least 10 lbs on aregular basis, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and sometimes may haveto twist and bend body, ability to climb ladders/stairs, work in loudenvironment. Must be able to discern audible alarms
  • Ability to perform physically demandingwork for extended periods of time, including but not limited to: Stoop, lay,bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl for extended periods oftime. Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other highstructures. Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signalsusing sight, touch, and hearing. Demonstrated ability to handle and manipulatetooling, quickly and accurately during new hire training and maintainingability throughout employment. Potential exposure to confined spaces and hazardousmaterials

Expected Compensation

$80,000 - $300,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
