Special Events Coordinator - Office of Advancement - Georgetown University

Job Overview

The Special Events Coordinator manages registration and attendance tracking for Advancement events which support the alumni engagement, development and campaign goals established by the university. They support the effectiveness of registration processes and impact the overall goals of each event in duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Administer the preparation of event materials (such as name tags and event supplies)
  • Process payments
  • Assist the event lead in reconciling income and coordinating other elements of the event
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all event inquiries from alumni and donors

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Director of Signature Events, the Special Events Coordinator is a member of the Office of Advancement Special Events team. They interact with Advancement and university colleagues to support the planning and execution of a variety of events.

In managing the registration process for events, they oversee the Advancement event volunteers and serve as the first point of contact for many alumni and donors. These interactions are an important component of building and maintaining positive constituent relationships and the overall success of the event experience.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 to 3 years of experience required [ note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and work experience ]
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills and superb attention to detail.
  • Ability to concurrently balance multiple, high priorities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Mission-driven mindset
