Description

Summary:

The Director of Product Management is a leadership position within the Synsus Product Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for and input into a wide variety of areas. The Director of Product Management will work with Synsuss commercial team to interact with customers and lead the overall ideation- to-finished product process. This role supports current customer products as well as collaborate with customers to improve and integrate innovation into private label products.
The Director of Product Management will lead both new product concepts and current product upgrade efforts. This role will work in collaboration with customers, chemists, the commercial team, and operations team to assure a seamless and profitable launch of new products. He/she will also serve as a technical resource for the sales organization and other departments within the company, traveling as needed to help with agronomic meetings, technical assistance, and conference attendance, primarily in turf but also in Ag where needed. The Director of Product Management will be one of the key agronomy experts within Synsus Private Label Partners.
Estimated division of time: 75-80% product management, 20-25% agronomic sales support

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

With input from commercial team, customers, chemists, and innovation suppliers develop new fertilizers & innovation products for sale within the Synsus customer base. Analyze existing product offerings with an eye toward improvement of customers private label portfolio.
Serve on the Synsus Leadership Team, representing the Innovation and Product Development department, to work cross-functionally with other Leadership Team members to meet company goals. Understand new and emerging technologies in the market; analyze those technologies for potential fit within Synsus.
Work as a collective team with the Product Development group, helping where needed on a wide variety of projects. Represent Synsus within the industry at relevant conferences, trade shows and other events. Stay up to date on industry news, competitive product lines, and pricing trends. Serve as a key agronomy expert within Synsus. Serve as the primary product training resource to the commercial team for new product launches, existing product lines, and other key product training needs.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Agronomic experience and knowledge of the golf, landscape/ornamental and agricultural market segments. A good listener. Listen to internal and external customers and facilitate solutions.

  • Initiative-taking self-starter. Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Travel and work on the road as required. Travel approximately 50%.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment.

  • Requires excellent time management and organization skills.

  • Excellent communication and people skills

Education & Experience:

  • University degree required. Post-graduate degree preferred.

  • 10 years work experience in plant nutrition formulation/development desired.
