POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager position is responsible for accounting activities: Process optimization related to accounts payable and travel and expense, overseeing the corporate accounts payable team, developing reporting for 13 week cash flow, reviewing month end activities, monitoring system errors related to accounting, and other tasks as required. 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

The specific minimum competencies needed to perform the essential duties of the job include knowledge, skills, abilities, level of education, and experience necessary for successful performance. These competencies are generally demonstrated through specific service, education, or training.

Knowledge: Acquired through education, certifications, training, experience.

Skills & Abilities: Self-starter, time management skills, good oral and written communication skills, accounting proficiency, and proficiency in Microsoft is required, including spreadsheet/Excel formulas. Experience with accounts payable required. Strong organization skills and ability to maintain accurate records are required. 

Level of Experience: 

The ideal candidate will have accounting experience of 5 years, including experience with project management/optimization

Level of Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. CPA preferred. 

Travel: 

Potential for 1-3 trips per year. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

The core tasks, duties, and responsibilities that must be performed on the job.

1. Process optimization and development related to the general ledger and indirect Accounts Payable
   1. Process optimization related to indirect accounts payable and travel and expense and managing projects to update the ERP for best practices
   2. Manage and maintain the general ledger, including optimizing the chart of accounts
   3. Implement and monitor accounts payable best practices, controls, and policies over accounts payable
   4. Implement systematic workflow for indirect spend in line with the Delegation of Authority
   5. Implement and monitor controls and policies related to travel and expense setup in Concur, including audits of Concur
   6. Team with other departments to implement best practices related to vendor setup and maintenance
2. Manage corporate accounts payable team in charge of indirect spend and travel and expense in Concur
   1. Assist accounts payable team with appropriate coding of invoices and transactions
   2. Oversee application of the Delegation of Authority
3. Monitor cash flow and ongoing treasury tasks
   1. Develop reporting to monitor cash flow by type of payment
   2. Present cash flow reporting to accounting management 
   3. Consolidate information to prepare 13-week cash flow
   4. Review weekly check runs and ensure completeness in the bank
4. Ongoing accounting tasks
   1. Perform month end journal entries including rebate accruals, commission accruals, lease accounting, and managing payroll entries
   2. Journal entries for the Canadian legal entity
   3. Perform bank reconciliations as needed
   4. Support the annual 401k audit
   5. Review service auditor reports annually
   6. Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
