Who We Want:

The Executive Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing all accounting and treasury management functions of the organization. The position ensures proper controls are in place, and working effectively, to maintain compliance with all applicable tax and accounting regulations while managing the preparation and filing of all necessary reporting. This position must possess excellent analytic and problem-solving skills and demonstrate a deep understanding of accounting principles and processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee and participate in the preparation of all necessary financial statements and related reporting, and ensure that all reporting is timely and accurate
  • Ensure federal, state, and local taxes are correctly accounted for and paid in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain the company's cash management strategy
  • Lead the departmental and company-wide budgeting and planning process
  • Ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard the company's assets and to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Oversee the company's account policies and procedures to ensure they support the needs of the organization
  • Manage, train and develop the accounting team through collaborative interactions
  • Review and maintain key contracts for accuracy and understanding of implications on the business, including the financial reporting requirements
  • Analyze accounting data for patterns, trends, and anomalies, and recommend corrective action as necessary
  • Provide financial analysis and support to strategic and operational decision making of department leadership
  • Ensure that all financial decisions are in alignment with the organization's strategic goals
  • Formulate tax strategies in a manner that minimizes the company's tax burden
  • Complete periodic forecasting of cash requirements to develop capital investment and working capital strategies
  • Participate in purchase requisition approval process
  • Analyze and manage risk including insurance coverages and supplier financial risk
  • Ensure annual US GAAP audits are completed in a timely manner without qualifications

When and Where:

This will be a M-F position located at our Corporate Office in Walker, MI.

What You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; MBA or CPA preferred
  • 5 years of role experience and leading a team
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and experience with financial compliance
  • Proven experience as a financial leader, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Able to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of financial reporting and regulatory controls and best practices
  • Experience managing working capital and treasury management duties
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
