Avery Brewing is Hiring an Accounting Specialist Near Grand Rapids, MI

SUMMARY
Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
  • Support the company in optimizing our financial transactions and systems by performing reconciliation of payments/collections and customer/vendor accounts, and monitor and collect accounts receivable/payable by contacting clients/vendors via telephone, email.
  • Maintain accounts receivable / payable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections/payments are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared, and prepare analytical and ratio analyses relevant to A/R and A/P so management can gain a better understanding of how collection efforts are progressing
  • Support other accounting and finance team members, with other specific duties as:
1. Enters and reconciles credit card transactions
2. Reviews expense reports from employees
3. Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
4. Computes and Processes Monthly Beer Taxes
5. Assists to prepare entries to accounts, document business transactions and reconciliations.
6. Assists with special projects as assigned by Controller or VP of Finance.
7. Assist with inventory management
8. Other duties as assigned by management

Required skills and qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
  • Superb time management and detail orientation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Ability to keep company and partner confidences
Preferred skills and qualifications
  • Experience in accounts receivable (or accounts payable)
  • Experience in driving process improvement
  • Experience with accounting ERP systems (SAP)
