Suffolk University is Hiring a Program Manager Near Boston, MA

The Program Manager for Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services collaborates with the Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services team to coordinate Bridge Tutoring & Conversation Sessions for specific courses with INTO Pathway students enrolled. In conjunction with the Director of Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services, the Program Manager also recruits and oversees TAs for CAS and SBS first-year experience courses (CAS-101 & SBS-100). Manages and oversees the CLAS Marketing Art & Design Scholars to market CLAS services to the Suffolk Community as well as the English Language Learner (ELL) Support Scholars to market CLAS services to the INTO-Suffolk program as well as international and domestic ELLs in the university community at large. The Program Manager will also assist with day-to-day management of CLAS tutoring programs.

PrimaryResponsibilities:

Program Oversight:

  • Coordinates the Conversation Sessions/Bridge Tutor Program:
    • Staffs, schedules, and trains bridge tutors for specified INTO-Suffolk courses.
    • Liaises with the INTO Suffolk staff to select courses in need of bridge tutors.
    • Communicates with faculty teaching courses with bridge tutors regarding the tutor’s role inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Oversees CLAS Marketing, Art & Design team to market CLAS services:
    • Oversees marketing and promotion for the CLAS across print, web, and social media platforms.
    • Works with the CLAS marketing team to create schedules for all tutoring and group support programs.
    • Communicates to faculty and students the tutoring and group support services offered each semester.
    • Plays a key role in the social norming campaign regarding tutoring to support the University Strategic Plan.
  • Assists the Director of Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services in overseeing the first-year experience TA program:
    • Recruits and oversees TAs for first-year experience courses (CAS-101 & SBS-100).
    • Communicates with the CAS & SBS dean’s offices and faculty to coordinate the TA role inside and outside the classroom.
    • Coordinates TA trainings and check-ins.
    • Oversees the CAS TA Coordinator and the SBS TA Coordinator.
    • Monitors the expenditure of first-year experience TA funds.
  • Day-to-day co-managing of tutoring program:
    • Manages appointment changes including canceling, rescheduling, and blocking time with an intimate knowledge of tutor expertise and disposition.
    • In conjunction other CLAS staff, supports and mentors CLAS peer and professional tutors.
    • Co-facilitates weekly tutor trainings and monthly all-employee meetings.
  • Directly oversees Art & Design Grad Fellow.
  • Oversees bridge tutors.
  • Supervises a team of Marketing Art & Design scholars & ELL support scholars (sub-groups of the Geno A. Ballotti Scholars).
  • Oversees first-year experience TAs and TA coordinators.

Operations Management:

  • Creates writing tutor schedules for 1-on-1 tutoring as well as drop-in services. In coordination with the INTO-Suffolk program, schedules English language workshops, English language tutoring, and English language drop-in services.
  • Inputs schedules and expertise into our management system each semester.
  • Assists in day-to-day scheduling adjustments in our systems.
  • Assists with the recruitment and oversight of the Geno A. Ballotti Scholar Program

Events Management:

  • Co-organizes with the McNair Scholar’s administrative team and the Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Support Services team the Annual McNair-Ballotti Symposium offered each April.
  • Co-organizes tutor participation in the New England Peer Tutoring Association (NEPTA) Forum each spring.

CLAS/DSS Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the accuracy and timely updating of the CLAS content on the Suffolk University website.
  • Oversees the social media accounts for the CLAS and uses these platforms to promote CLAS services.
  • Performs Early Alert outreach.
  • Represents Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services team on DSS committees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Master’s degree in education or a related field preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills. Must be detail-oriented. Ability to work well as part of a team and individually. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, social media platforms and willingness to learn new software as needed. Previous learning/tutoring center experience and experience working with college level students a plus. CRLA certification, a plus. Experience with EAB Navigate, TutorTrac, or another tutor management system, a plus. Experience with Constant Contact and Qualtrics, a plus. Evening and weekend work may be occasionally required.
