Boston Medical Center is Hiring a Program Manager Near Boston, MA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Faster Paths Program Manager (PM) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Faster Paths, the low-barrier substance use disorder bridge clinic at BMC. A core member of the Faster Paths leadership team, the PM collaborates closely with the Faster Paths medical director, associate medical directors, nurse manager, and pharmacy liaison. They provide direct supervision to patient care coordinators and ensure effective, non-stigmatizing, patient-centered service delivery, fulfillment of departmental and hospital objectives, and timely completion of reporting requirements. The PM provides leadership for continuous services and quality improvement, innovation, and staff empowerment, accomplished through effective internal and external relationship building. The PM serves as a primary liaison between Faster Paths and collaborating programs within and outside of BMC, including the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Addiction Services, and they ensure effective administration of grant funding. They actively contribute to Faster Paths' mission to deliver on-demand, clinically excellent substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and harm reduction services to reduce overdose and other complications of SUD and to support patients in achieving their goals.

Manages all aspects of program administration and operation, including financial and grants management, strategic planning, personnel management, public relations and promoting the program to the public. Duties include managing data, maintaining budgets, preparing grants proposals; functioning as a key liaison with public and private funding sources, regulatory agencies and relevant hospital programs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Requires a Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) with an emphasis in human services, education, public administration, social work, or community development.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of five years of experience in the non-profit sector or in a similar clinical experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Faster Paths clinic, ensuring staffing coverage 7 days/week and patient care coordinator adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Supervise a team of 2-5 patient care coordinators, providing staff training, ongoing feedback, and fostering high performance within a positive and empathic work environment.
  • Support optimization of patient, provider, and RN scheduling in a hybrid walk-in and scheduled visit model; support appropriate outreach to patients who miss visits.
  • Manage supply ordering and stock
  • Maintain excellent skills in use of the electronic health record (EPIC) for operations and reporting purposes.
  • Support a welcoming, non-judgmental clinical culture for people with substance use disorders; address stigmatizing statements and behaviors by staff members proactively and as a training opportunity.
  • Experience with Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and web page usage/updating, social networking and other technologies that can be used to further carry the program's mission.
  • Demonstrated skills in the provision of services in a multicultural environment.
  • Oversee data collection processes, maintain accurate records, and generate regular reports on clinic session counts, patient visit volume, demographics, and trends for analysis and improvement.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives, educational events, and awareness campaigns to promote Faster Paths' services.
  • Work closely with Faster Paths team members, partner organizations, and government agencies to enhance the effectiveness of clinical service delivery.
  • Collaborate with local treatment providers, recovery support services, and other relevant organizations to maintain an up-to-date database of resources and ensure effective referrals.
  • Develop and submit progress reports for submission to all external funding agencies/sponsors
  • Assist with study budgets and purchasing, conduct regular budget tracking and forecasting, collaborate closely with GIM grants administrator
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
