State of Missouri is Hiring an Environmental Program Assistant/Analyst ESP0094 Near Jefferson City, MO

Salary: $1,700 - $2,078 semi-monthly

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality and will be located at the Environmental Services Program, 2710 West Main Street, Jefferson City. Field work required of the position is statewide.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan and conduct field monitoring and collection of samples of surface water, groundwater, wastewater, fish tissue, and sediment using scientific equipment and techniques.
  • Conduct various types of water quality field studies in support of permit reviews, water quality standards development, and water quality assessments.
  • Analyze water samples for E. coli, cyanotoxins, and chlorophyll-a for permit compliance, development of water quality standards, and protection of human and animal health.
  • Conduct routine calibration and maintenance of equipment used in water quality monitoring activities.
  • Write and review study plans, field activity reports, standard operating procedures, and quality assurance project plans.
  • Enter and review data in various data management systems.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Physical Science, Geology, Engineering, Agronomy, Forestry, Soil Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related field.
  • Have good manual dexerity and physical condition for performing vigorous field work.
  • Have ability to work outdoors during adverse weather conditions and navigate rough terrain.
  • Have ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Have ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays, statewide.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience conducting environmental field studies.
  • Knowledge of water quality science, water chemistry, or limnology.
  • Knowledge of water sample collection and analysis techniques and methodologies.
  • Previous experience operating various types of watercraft (boats with outboard motors, canoes, kayaks).
