State of Missouri is Hiring an Environmental Program Supervisor/Integrated Planning Unit Chief - 5030103 Near Jefferson City, MO

Salary: $1,726.00 - $2,921.00 semi-monthly

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Geological Survey, and will be located at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building in Jefferson City.

In this role, you will lead a team of engineers and hydrologists working on a range of water resources topics and projects as the Integrated Planning Unit Chief in the Surface Water Section of the Water Resources Center.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the Integrated Planning Unit within the Surface Water Section.
    • Provide close supervision, guidance, and support for the unit.
    • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
    • Review work of hydrologists and engineers and ensure work is timely, complete, and accurate.
    • Exercise initiative and good judgment in planning and carrying out assignments.
    • Help identify and achieve the strategic goals of the Surface Water Section.
  • Lead and supervise the Missouri Water Supply Study project to develop yield studies for drinking water reservoirs.
  • Lead and coordinate work on the development of significant technical documents, such as the Missouri Drought Mitigation Plan.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Missouri water resources, engineering, and hydrology topics.
  • Supervise technical work on Planning Assistance to States projects and watershed studies.
  • Support Water Resources Center activities in preparation for and in response to flooding and drought events.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Biology, Geology, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field.
  • Four or more years of professional experience in environmental regulatory work, engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrology, or a closely related natural resources area.
  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the specified fields and/or Public Administration may substitute for two years of the required general experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • A strong background and experience in water resources issues and topics.
  • Licensure as a professional engineer in Missouri.
