State of Missouri is Hiring an Environmental Program Assistant/Analyst - 4030111 Near Jefferson City, MO

Salary: $1,700.00 - $2,078.00 semi-monthly

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Air Pollution Control Program, Compliance and Enforcement Section, and will be located at 1659 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

What you’ll do:

  • Gateway Vehicle Inspection Program contract management. The individual selected for this position will help draft request for proposals, evaluate contract bids, and enforce contract requirements.
  • Gateway Vehicle Inspection Program compliance assistance. The individual selected for this position will assist motorists and inspection stations navigate the Gateway Vehicle Inspection Program requirements.
  • Vapor recovery compliance assistance in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas. The individual selected for this position will assist contractors and gas station owners navigate our state vapor recovery requirements.
  • Vapor Recovery and Gateway Vehicle Inspection Program Enforcement. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for managing enforcement cases from start to finish. Common tools that we use to resolve enforcement cases are letters or administrative orders. Administrative orders may include monetary penalties and/or corrective actions. Enforcement case management involves regular communication with the responsible party.
  • Stack testing assistance. In addition to vapor recovery and Gateway Vehicle Inspection Program responsibilities, the Testing and Emissions Unit is responsible for auditing stack tests that occur throughout the state. As time allows, the candidate selected for this position will assist in managing stack test issues.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience (Substitutions may be allowed).
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and/or apply laws, regulations, policies and reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people with varying comprehensions of air pollution issues.
  • Ability to evaluate data.
  • Ability to work with the general public and the regulated community.
  • Ability to operate a computer and standard word processing, email, and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to work well with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred degree program includes Atmospheric Science, Biology, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Engineering, Environmental Science, Law, Math, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Highly organized. The candidate will be responsible for managing many projects with often changing priorities. A high level of organization will help the candidate succeed in this position.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Knowledge of the current environmental issues, and federal and state laws.
