State of Arizona is Hiring a Prevention Project Specialist Near Phoenix, AZ

DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE MANAGEMENT

Manage and reduce fire risk to protect Arizona's people, communities, and wildland areas to champion the health of Arizona's natural resources. The Department of Forestry and Fire Management provides services through strategic implementation of cooperative natural resources and fire assistance programs, development and support of statewide fire policies, and coordination of resources across all-lands and jurisdictions.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the position will assure compliance with Federal and State grant requirements, perform field checks on funded projects, verify documentation, and assist with reporting of accomplishments.

The position will be responsible for data collection, insuring Federal and State Grant compliance and project tracking. Other duties include maintaining and preparing financial or project documents and collecting critical information needed to account for funding purposes.

This is a grant funded position.

Job Duties:

* Assure compliance with Federal and State grant requirements, perform field checks on funded projects, verify documentation, and assist with reporting of accomplishments.

* Provide technical support for Fire Grant opportunities, sub-recipient/customer support, data collection, project tracking, fiscal audits.

* Maintaining and preparing financial or project documents and collecting critical information needed to account for funding purposes.

* Regularly report progression and project status to DFFM management and other agencies.

* Drive on State business.

* Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

* Federal and state statues/laws/regulations and Agency Standard policies and procedures applicable to the areas of assignment

* Cooperative grant systems compliance and chronicling Inter-agency agreements

* Current accepted methods, procedures, and techniques used in Wildland Fire response, forestry, natural resource management and related applicable environmental science.

Skills in:

* Interpersonal communication and problem solving methods

* Public speaking and presentation

* Practical management

* Effective report writing and presentation development practices providing clear statement and objectives

* Communication of technical information and instruction in simple written or oral terms

* Use of computers and applicable software

* Conducting one-on-one or group project exercise and instruction

Ability to:

* Work independently and/or collectively with colleagues, clients and unit

* Adapt to changing environments and new techniques

* Maintain effective working relationships with others

* Communicate verbally or written

* Travel within the state with some overnight stay

* Walk in a variety of terrains and weather

* Adhere to State of Arizona and Department of Forestry and Fire Management Standards of Conduct, policies, procedures and practices.

* Drive on State business

Selective Preference(s):

4-year degree from an accredited institution.

Grants and Project management experience relating to forestry or natural resource management.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

A valid Arizona Driver's License.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
