Position Description –Accounting Clerk
Salary range: $55,000 - $75,000
The Accounting Clerk reports to the Business Manager and performs detailed financial tasks in order to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial operations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Verify invoices, secure payment authorization, and enter data into the financial accounting system.
Maintain updated vendor files.
Print and record vendor payments.
Prepare vendor payments for mailing.
Maintain file copies of vendor payments and supporting documentation.
Bank and Post Office runs as needed.
Print and record invoices as required.
Create invoices and/or Purchase Orders as needed.
Post customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
Prepare regular bank deposits.
Post revenues by verifying and entering transactions from bank deposits.
Maintain file copies of receipts and supporting documentation.
Duties include:
Understanding how to calculate salaries and benefit amounts.
Demonstrate ability to verify payroll entries including salary amounts, deductions, etc.
Assist in the administration of employee benefits.
Assist in maintaining staff PTO records and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge of:
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintaining general ledgers
- Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- QuickBooks or similar accounting software
· Ability to:
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
- Maintain confidentiality concerning financial and employee files
- Demonstrate a high level of “customer service” at all times toward internal and external “customers”
- Prioritize and manage multiple, diverse, and time-sensitive tasks simultaneously with acute attention to detail and minimal supervision
- Carry out responsibilities with a high level of professionalism
- Communicate effectively, both in writing or verbally
- Seek assistance when unsure
- Work overtime, overnight, and on weekends during emergencies and disasters
- Work under pressure for extended periods of time
