SAGE is the world’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ ) older adults. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources for LGBTQ older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ older people, and provides cultural competency training for aging providers and LGBTQ organizations, largely through its National Resource Center on LGBTQ Aging and its growing social enterprise SAGECare.

Summary

We are seeking an energetic and reliable Porter to perform building maintenance tasks at SAGE Center Bronx at Crotona Pride House in Crotona, Bronx. Overall duties include removing debris, maintaining common areas, assisting with program setup and breakdown, and responding to all cleaning emergencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness of building entrance, lobby, and other common areas
• Organize and tidy refuse area, which includes breaking down cardboard boxes
• Complete minor building repairs and maintenance (change lightbulbs, water fountain filters, etc.)
• Prepare spaces (including the 2nd floor terrace) for programs and special events and breakdown once complete
• Monitor, clean and service washrooms
• Respond to any spills or other spot cleaning needs.
• Assist with program supply inventory and organization
• Inventory maintenance supplies and communicate when replenishment is needed
• Routinely examine building for safety hazards and report issues to supervisor

• Ability to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, reach, walk and lift up to fifty (30) lbs
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects.
• Flexible and dependable – this position requires some flexibility around scheduling. some morning/evening or occasional weekend hours may be required
• Ability to communicate via text messaging

Status: Part-time / Nonexempt / 18-hour per week

Schedule: 3 Days a week, 18 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $22 – $24 an hour
