Sentinel Transportation is seeking a talented Logistics Coordinator to join our team in Houston, TX. This pivotal role is dedicated to supporting every facet of the Bulk Truck transportation process, ensuring the prompt and cost-effective delivery of a variety of commodities while upholding exceptional customer relationships. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including Customers, Sales, Transportation, and Refining teams, is integral to success in this position. As part of the job responsibilities, the employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 lbs., as well as perform tasks involving climbing steps, maintaining balance, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Adaptability to various environmental conditions, such as temperatures, humidity, and dampness, is essential. Additionally, this role involve travel to Sentinel Regional offices and customer sites.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides daily customer service to customer accounts, acting as front-line contact for logistics issue resolution.
• Coordinates bulk truck orders and reviews customer requirements.
• Verifies that orders meet established shipping guidelines and advises customer if changes are needed.
• Schedules orders and builds loads, coordinating time and shipment details with site locations; will determine optimal shipping location for product sourcing needs (as required).
• Works with Carriers to secure capacity and tender loads to ensure transportation requirements are satisfied.
• Determines capability to meet customer instructions, entering and/or updating information directly into system(s).
• Works with other departments to ensure customer requirements are met. Tracks all orders to confirm on-time delivery and orders are closed out (e.g. actualized) in system(s).
• Resolves all post-delivery inquiries such as logistics and shipping documentation issues.
• Provides on-call support for emergency requests, handling the issue to resolution.
• Performs other duties as may be required.

REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred.
• Two or more years working experience as a Dispatcher/Coordinator in the transportation industry.
• Previous experience in a hazardous materials/brokerage preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of FMCSA, DOT and other regulations related to the transportation of chemicals and petroleum products.
• Demonstrated knowledge of FHWA/HM regulations and Sentinel policies and procedures
• Ability to communicate in English with individuals, using a mix of verbal and written communication styles.
• Proficiency in data management and all Microsoft Office applications
