Job Summary:
PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for a strong Business Development Manager working for an architectural/engineering firm in their Power and Renewables Division. The Business Development Manager focusses on key target markets of power generation; hydroelectric, energy storage, wind, solar, thermal, hydrogen, carbon capture technologies, and power delivery; transmission & distribution, substations, interconnections. The Business Development Manager will support vertical engineering and design, project management, and project controls services to major energy companies and utilities while collaborating with other business units on Nuclear and Minerals & Metals. The Business Development Manager will be required to travel extensively to the companies’ sites and customer locations. In addition to frequent travel, regular visits to the office in their market will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Execute the plan for the P&R Growth Strategy in your region and maintain the team’s focus on the agreed strategy.
  • Be proactive and work to penetrate real or perceived barriers to client engagement. Be willing to work independently until specific actionable intelligence is generated to engage greater organization.
  • Market the company brand within target accounts and regional market and develop market data that can be utilized to find new service outlets.
  • Mine public databases and other market intelligence to find opportunities in selected accounts.
  • Engage and identify key clients and develop a working relationship with them. Develop and implement a proper customer engagement plan. Identify, create, and efficiently manage key client relationships.
  • Participate in the development of the annual and strategic plans.
  • Drive the complete BD/Sales cycle with our clients, from initial lead identification and Go/No-Go assessments through bidding, negotiation, risk review and contract closure.
  • Work with the Bid Teams for creating suitable proposals. Support and participate in project proposal preparation and related client meetings.
  • Identify and work toward the resolution of client relations problems.
  • Maintain visibility and professional profile by participating in professional and associated industry organizations.
Job Requirements:
  • Technical knowledge of the services provided in assigned area is preferred.
  • Excellent technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have business vision, excellent communication skills, and be able to represent the firm effectively to staff, clients, and the community in general.
  • Promote high performance and consistent accountability at all levels within the accounts. Professional registration in the field of practice is preferred, if available.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills plus written and oral communications skills are essential
  • Outgoing, self-starter with innate sales orientation, optimism and drive; good organizational skills
Physical Requirements:
  • Office environment with travel to customer sites as required.
  • While on site, may require protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, etc.)
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Business Administration.
  • 15 years of relevant experience and proven track record in sales.
  • 20 years of relevant experience and proven track record in sales, without a degree.
