Philabundance is Hiring a Director of Finance Near Philadelphia, PA

Position Summary:
The Director of Finance will function as an advisor to the CFO and Senior Leadership team for strategic planning purposes. The scope of this role will have direct oversight regarding all sides of accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, annual audits, budgeting and tax preparation. Additionally, this role will develop and maintain appropriate tracking methods for revenue and expenses. The Director of Finance will support the CFO in engaging the Board of Director's audit and Finance Committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Review monthly financial statements to include accurate analyses, summaries, and reports on the operating progress and status of the company.
  • Create reliable cash flow projection process and reporting structure that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operational needs.
  • Routinely review revenue cycle metrics to identify and address issues affecting overall performance activity.
  • Manage the company’s compliance with local, state and federal regulatory matters.
  • Consistently monitor and develop strategy for inventory forecasting and planning.
  • Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards and related procedures.
  • Plan, plan coordinate and execute annual budget process.
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Coordinate with the Controller on all audit activity including providing support to the CFO in engaging the Board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
  • Coordinate with and assist the Controller with all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the CFO; continuously collaborate with program leadership to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of Philabundance's financial status.
  • Coordinate with Accounting Manager the monthly close including the review of all general ledger transactions for accuracy, management of bank and investment account reconciliation process, preparation of workpapers, and journal entries to meet deadlines as necessary and complete quarterly board reporting package in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Support and align with Philabundance Pillars. Ensure communications, actions and interactions reflect a positive focus on People, Partnerships, Professionalism and Progress.
Educational Achievement:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in accounting or finance. MBA preferred and CPA preferred.
Work Experience:
  • Min. 7 years in accounting, including min. of 3 years managing and developing others in a dedicated leadership role.
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
  • Experience guiding financial decisions by establishing monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience setting up and maintaining processes to protect assets by monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
  • Conducted audits, internally and externally.
  • Previous budget management, develop, collaborate, and enforce policy and process.
  • Reviewed and audited transaction and reporting processes.
Preferred:
  • Previous non-profit accounting experience, knowledge of grants, 990’s, and 403B
  • Experience in a diverse multi language environment. Fluency with Spanish a plus.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong experience with accounting/financial software, databases, produce reports, communication, analysis and present internally and externally. (Microsoft suite, ppt, and Zoom/Teams) Advanced Excel knowledge. Accounting software, CERES a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting standards and practices, ideally with non-profit knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with individuals and teams internally and externally.
  • Experience guiding financial decisions by establishing monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Advanced management of team development, succession planning, consistent performance, rewards, discipline, and training as required.
  • Proven organizational and communication skills, guide a team with levels and provide senior leadership team with necessary information on an ongoing basis.
  • Successful experience with problem solving and ability to stay nimble in an evolving environment.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
