Department Information

Georgia Tech Office of Development (DEV)

Led by the Vice President for DEV, Jen Howe (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jen-howe/), our fundraising team at Georgia Tech currently consists of 88 professionals who are focused on securing transformative philanthropy (major and principal gifts) to support the strategic priorities of the Institute and its colleges, schools, and programs including Athletics. For fiscal year 2022 (closed 6/30/2022), the DEV team's efforts resulted in over $211 million in new gifts and commitments which helped to publicly launch Georgia Tech's largest comprehensive campaign in the Institutes history Transforming Tomorrow:The Campaign for Georgia Tech which is intended to bring over $2 billion in new commitments and gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other organizations.One of the most significant priorities within Transforming Tomorrow is ensuring access of the brightest undergraduate, graduate and professional students to Georgia Tech, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Within the campaign, DEV has already secured $170M towards Athletics initial campaign target of $300M to support facilities, current operations, endowment.It is anticipated that Athletics priorities and goals will be expanded and increased during the final five years of the public phase of the campaign, in order to fulfill the future vision of Georgia Tech Athletics, ensure the athletic and academic success of our student-athletes both on and off the fields and courts of competition, and provide a sustainable financial base for Athletics within the ever-changing marketplace of collegiate sports.

Job Summary

Front-line development officer responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of a coordinated program of fundraising activities, leveraging the counsel and support of a seasoned development director serving as team leader and supervisor. Uses professional relationship building skills to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors and prospective donors capable of making gifts of $25,000 or more. Support special events to involve and cultivate major gift donors and prospects. Identifies stewardship opportunities for major gift donors. Collaborates with deans, school chairs, and faculty, and coordinates with other development and alumni relations staff. This role provides an opportunity to broaden knowledge of fundraising approaches. This position is expected to contribute to team results while building long term, meaningful donor relationships. Typically solicits gifts in the range of $25,000 to $250,000 and is accountable for raising up to $750,000 per year. Manages a prospect pool of up to 200 prospects. Will interact on a regular basis with: Alumni, Parents, Corporate and Foundation Representatives, Staff, and Volunteers. Typically will advise and counsel: Unit Leadership, Deans, Development Officers, and Faculty. Will supervise: N/A

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Assist with the design and/or implementation of comprehensive fundraisingplansforassigned college,school,program,region,orr constituency.

Job Duty 2 - Use professional relationship building skills to develop and implement plansandstrategiesforidentifying,cultivating,soliciting,andstewarding major gift donors and prospective donors. Close major gifts and commitments,bothpersonallyandincoordinationwithsupervisor,witha typical gift range of $25,000 to $250,000, and an average annualfundraising accountabilityupto$750,000.

Required Qualifications

Education Required- Bachelor'sDegree inrelatedfield orequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperience.

Required Experience- Twotothreeyears ofprogressivelyresponsibleexperienceindevelopment/advancementand/or relevant experience in sales and marketing, or other related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications- Twoplusyearsofprovendevelopmentexperienceandresultsinsolicitingandclosingannualgifts and/ormajorgifts,and/orexperienceinaDevelopmentServicesroleinahighereducationsetting and a campaign environment.

Proposed Salary

Salary Range: $64, 939- 88, 317

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Abilities- Useofofficerelatedcomputerapplicationsisrequired.Travelisanessentialpartofthepositionasis participation in evening and weekend activities.Focus primarily on securing major gifts and grants from alumni, other individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Knowledge- Knowledgeoffundraisingapproachesandthestronginterpersonalskills,ethicalstandards,andgood judgement.

Skills- Excellentskillsinbuildinglong-termrelationships,andpersuasivewrittenandverbalcommunication skills.Requires skills in prioritizing, negotiating, strategic planning, project management, program administration and organization.
