The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $20.85 to $23.12, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Under supervision of the Jail Diversion ProgramSupervisor, forensic case managers are responsible for delivery of forensiccase management and intensive rehabilitation services for eligible persons witha mental illness and/or co-occurring disorder who are being diverted fromincarceration. Consumer contact is frequent with individuals, family members,or service providers to maintain community integrated treatment. Adheres toestablished training and service delivery standards including the use ofevidenced based practice curricula, establishes and maintains opencommunication with the District Attorney's office, communicates directly within-house Jail personnel, Crisis Intervention Team Members and Mobile Crisis Outreach team members to ensureindividuals served gain access to psychiatric, substance abuse, medical,social, vocational, and other services and supports.

Minimum Requirements 

A minimum of a bachelor's or advance degree from anaccredited college or university with a major in a social, behavioral, or humanservice field including, but not limited to, psychology, social work, medicine,nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human development, gerontology,educational psychology, and education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Inthe course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed carepractices.
  • Demonstration of the clinical competencies required by agency-approved, standardized training
  • Valid Texas driver's license at all times, liability insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Computer literate 
  • Ability to participate as a team member 
  • Experience in the use of teaching and recovery techniques used in rehabilitation services providing effective assistance to persons who are disabled
  • Knowledge of assessment techniques and tools
  • Knowledge of client care techniques
  • Ability to plan an individualized program of instruction with the client
  • Ability to work with others and to gain and retain the confidence of persons being instructed, guided, or directed
  • Abilityto communicate effectively.
