Northwest Center is Hiring an Amazon - Team Lead (Banana Stands) for Northwest Center Services Near Seattle, WA

The Northwest Center @ Amazon team operates in a fast-paced and demanding corporate environment where we provide professional 5-star customer service across several program divisions. The Team Lead (Banana Stands) will support the banana stand located onsite on the Amazon campus. Banista's proactively greet all visitors to the Banana stands, restocking inventory, tracking daily metrics, and are responsible for timely communication of issues needing immediate attention. Banista's engage the community and provide a warm, friendly interaction. The position may require working at any or all of the banana stand locations as needed between the hours of 7:00AM and 3:45PM Monday through Friday with availability to work Saturdays from 8:00AM - 4:00PM for weekend, evening and offsite events.
As our Team Lead (Banana Stands), you will be the lead for day-to-day operations; to manage banana inventory, banana ordering and supply management, day to day schedules, reporting metrics to leadership, and building relationship with onsite stakeholders and vendor partners. You will be key in daily management of the banana stand and working with the Banana Program management to ensure program continuity and support. This person will need to be a self-starter, able to see around corners, have impeccable attention to detail, and feel confident in using professional judgement. You have the ability to quickly pivot at a moment’s notice, have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak and engage with the public, have a willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the work done, and you enjoy the challenges of helping craft great experiences for our customers.
Location: Seattle & Bellevue, WA
Schedule: Mon. - Fri. 7:15am -3:45pm with some Saturdays 8:00am-4:00pm (Public Saturdays) - Flexibility needed
Starting Wage: $25.75 per hour | Full Wage Range: $25.75-$30.64 per hour

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Lead Specific Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operations supporting the banana stand.
    • Acts as the first point of contact for any delivery or operational issue, and troubleshoots solutions
    • Responsible for standards and policies being adhered to by the Banista team
    • Communicates to Leadership any issues that arise during the shift
  • Gather and track hourly counts of metrics and support other data collection efforts.
  • Communicate with leadership, property management, janitorial, and security as necessary.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the community and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate schedules for coverage for the banana stand, ensuring break coverage and PTO is accounted for and the stand is staffed.
  • Participate in hiring of staff.
    • Train new hires and re-train existing Banistas on implemented processes.
    • Conduct monthly inventory counts on uniforms and trailer assets.
Daily Banana Stand Responsibilities
  • Arrive to the banana stand ready to work at scheduled time in provided Banista uniform.
  • Assist with daily set-up and/or tear down of stand, ensuring all banana stand related items are placed in appropriate locations.
  • Greet and engage every visitor to the stand in a friendly, warm, professional and courteous manner. Banista's are required to provide a 5-star impression at all times.
  • Select work appropriate music to play during operating hours.
  • Unload bananas from boxes into banana stand crates while separating bananas into individual pieces.
  • Remove plastic or other material from the banana bunches.
  • Keep the banana stand crates full and plentiful for the duration of operating hours.
  • Sort any bruised or damaged bananas out and place them in the compost bin.
  • Ensure the banana stand is organized and clean at all times.
  • Monitor the compost bin and facilitate emptying when full.
  • Track daily metrics in tracking software on distribution, compost, carry-over cases, and additional areas as specified by leadership.
  • Track all comments, general inquiries, and public response to identify common themes and emergency situations needing attention.
  • Learn FAQ’s and banana facts to share with visitors.
  • Decorate the stand for holidays and/or special events with approved designs.
  • Communicate issues needing supervisor attention immediately, i.e. unexpected media on scene, etc.
  • Follow structured timelines and accommodate unexpected requests.
  • Interact with the public and discern security issues if they arrive, ability to follow security escalation requirements.
  • Ability to work at various banana stand locations (including some offsite locations) between 7:00am and 3:45pm Monday through Friday, including occasional after hours requests and weekends
  •  Cross training on reception duties including but not limited to: hanging posters and distribution of supplies
Needed Experience and RequirementsEducation and Experience  
  • GED or high school diploma required
  • Experience leading people.
  • Experience working in public facing roles or community facing engagement roles.
  • Experience involving extensive interactions with the public and building partnerships with other vendor partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required along with polite and professional phone etiquette.
  • Positive, upbeat attitude and able to get along with everyone.
  • Must be reliable and punctual with excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Expert communication skills (preferred)
  • Experience using MS Office suite of products (preferred)  
Demonstrable Skills

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Must be able to frequently carry and lift a backpack containing a laptop and other supplies, up to 50 pounds.
  • May need to carry supplies to other buildings.
  • Ability to walk consistently within a 1.5 radius is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
  • Ability to see both distance and details at close range, within a few feet of the observer (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Ability to identify and understand the speech of another person (with or without a personal auditory hearing device).
  • This is a dog friendly environment with over 1000 dogs on campus. Individuals with dog allergies or those who do not particularly care for dogs may not be the best fit.
  • Must be able to stand and/or sit outdoors in all weather conditions above 35 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 to 4 hours at a time and up to 8 hours for the day.
  • Must be able to handle bananas and/or various food products without allergic reaction.
  • Could be conditions below 40 degrees for up 3 hours.
  • Must be able to lift bananas and stack boxes up to 50 lbs.
