Northwest Center is Hiring an Amazon - Program Manager, Special Projects (Non-Technical) for Northwest Center Services Near Seattle, WA

The Program Manager – Special Projects, will serve as the initial contact to identify project scope, plan and develop project timeline and execute project milestones. The Program Manager will effectively support the build out of scope and operations; monitor risks and issues, report out timeline and engage with budgetary impacts. They will develop relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as well as cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet timeline and business objectives. The manager will ensure project scope and operational tasks are clearly documented, understood, assigned and tracked; completing all project documentation required based on service-level-agreements or agreed upon deliverables. This includes creating documentation and SOPs, and hiring, training and supporting staff. The manager needs to ensure program readiness and operational success to either maintain the program indefinitely or to hand off to another department. The manager will communicate ideas supporting the continuous improvement of processes with a positive and constructive attitude and for developing this attitude in team members. The manager will provide seamless handoff to operations team for implementation and timely updates for scope, timing or project changes as necessary.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 6pm with flexibility to work outside of hours listed as needed Location: Onsite - Seattle (South Lake Union, SoDo, and Queen Anne), Bellevue and Redmond, WAFull Salary Range: $95,675 - $120,556 per year

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

Operational Excellence
  • Commits significant focus, energy and/or resources to reach solutions; actively looks for new methods or processes to achieve desired results.
  • Identifies gaps and anticipates risks; takes action to connect parties, address risks and determine solutions.
  • Reinforces culture of shared ownership in program progress and successful completion.
  • Manages projects at startup and for extended durations with potential to handoff into operations team upon identified milestone. Some projects/scope may remain under this role and not transitioned into a production/operations team. This determination will be made based on a number of factors including duration, complexity and bandwidth of this position and other teams.
  • Considers options that span practices and functions and addresses each with a logical approach.
  • Able to anticipate functionality/system problems based on knowledge gained.
  • Ability to understand a range of systems displaying a willingness to learn, embrace, and implement new programs or software.
  • Creates clear, concise and thorough documentation for project execution, including internal playbook identifying steps from intake through operational execution and program hand-off.
  • Develops SOPs to support implementation and training material in the support of rapid execution while exceeding SLA’s and achievement of project timeline.

  • Builds valued relationships consistently, enabling on-going and effective partnerships focused on achieving shared objectives for the customer and Northwest Center.
  • Partners with stakeholders to support their decision-making processes; challenges thinking to ensure accountability and good stewardship.
  • Identifies differences or disagreements among business and technology stakeholders; facilitates involvement, collaboration, and communication to resolve issues quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively at the Sr. Leadership and operational level, while remaining focused and committed to Northwest Center’s overall business interest and strategic growth objectives.
  • Clearly communicates decisions, plans, goals and strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organizes and communicates information clearly and simply to drive actions across a range of formats including project proposals, scope of work, cadenced business reviews, and project plans.
  • Communicates to diverse audiences so that information is credible, digestible and easily understood.
  • Adjusts communication based on content and audience with ability to manage up and ensure visibility to stakeholders as well as senior and executive leadership.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization from Executives to frontline staff.

  • Ability to execute with minimal turnaround time while maintaining operational excellence and minimizing errors or project risks.
  • Operates as program or project incubator, drives for optimal solutions that are simple and quickest way to value; prevents unsustainable complexity.
  • Growth minded, sees obstacles and challenges as opportunities. Instills a continuous improvement mindset focused on identifying waste, root causes of inefficiency and practical, incremental improvements.
  • Builds solutions that are scalable and able to be easily modified as new requirements are identified
  • Any additional duties as requested in support of the NWC@Amazon Operations.
Needed Experience & EducationEducation
  • BA Degree in business/related field or equivalent.

Experience

  • 5 years of relevant work experience focused on customer support, administrative services and/or operations.
  • 4 years of experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels across multiple business units.
  • Served as vendor manager for large scale enterprise customer in an operations function
  • Strong preference for working knowledge of Amazon ecosystem or equivalent scale technology organization.
  • Demonstrated success in fast paced, agile environment to drive new projects to completion
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent which can be acquired after hire and will be supported by NWC.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Must be able to frequently carry and lift a backpack containing a laptop and other supplies, up to 50 pounds.
  • May need to carry supplies to other buildings.
  • Variable working hours between 07:30AM and 6:00PM with occasional nights and weekends
  • It is a combination of desk and actively visiting several Amazon buildings so the ability to move consistently within a 1.5 radius is required.
  • Ability to read, write, communicate and comprehend the English language
  • Ability to see both distance and details at close range, within a few feet of the observer (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Ability to identify and understand the speech of another person (with or without a personal auditory hearing device).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including occasionally arriving early, staying late on a moment’s notice and occasional evening and weekend shifts.
  • This is a dog friendly environment with over 1000 dogs on campus. Individuals with dog allergies or those who do not particularly care for dogs may not be the best fit.
