National Democratic Institute is Hiring a Talent Acquisition Specialist - Human Resources Near Washington, DC

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the talent acquisition function including, but not limited to, completion of reference and other required background checks; preparation of offer letters and new hire packets/materials; development, coordination, and communication of orientation scheduling; and processing and tracking new hire paperwork, ensuring all is completed as required.
  • Support recruitment for nonexempt and junior staff level positions by assisting recruiter(s) with review of resumes for entry-level and internship positions, determination of a talent acquisition strategy, and screenings/interviews, ensuring all necessary steps in the hiring process are conducted in accordance with NDI processes and policies, particularly those related to EEO and diversity, as well as the relevant provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Prepare, process, and execute talent acquisition and employment-related actions to ensure candidate sourcing, applicant tracking, and the establishment and/or update of employment records for new hires, transfers, promotions, demotions, or other changes as a result of competitive hiring selections, salary changes, terminations, etc.
  • Provide a high level of customer service, responding in a timely and accurate manner to external parties, e.g. applicants and vendors, and employee requests, questions, and concerns, and directing those of greater complexity or need to the appropriate Human Resources staff members.
  • Compile and communicate talent acquisition data, including hiring metrics-such as time to hire as well as source of hire, and as required prepare reports and other information that capture talent acquisition activities and hiring status.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and internal NDI policies and assists with various reporting and audit requirements.
  • Learn, develop, and demonstrate proficiency with NDI’s relevant talent acquisition software/systems as well as the UltiPro HRIS functions, effectively using these systems as necessary to perform assigned work and ensure required data maintenance/tracking, i.e. to ensure all information is captured, accurate, and kept up-to-date.
  • Assist in building a proactive pipeline of talent by hosting and/or participating in job fairs and other networking events to facilitate applicant outreach and sourcing, while also leveraging NDI brand recognition with potential candidates. Utilize social media for outreach and engagement with potential candidates.
  • Support the development and implementation of Human Resources projects, programs, processes, and policies.
  • Process various Human Resources invoices for payment and track expenses.

Peripheral Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and back-up for staff portal content maintenance.
  • Serve as the backup for performing HRIS/Human Resources administration roles, including completing job postings, as required.
  • Conduct research and analysis, preparing related reports, as required.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Human Resources trends and requirements in the marketplace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, preferably in a related field, i.e. Human Resources, industrial/labor relations, business.
  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience in Human Resources and/or talent acquisition. Previous experience in an international development organization is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources and talent acquisition functions and procedures, familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws, and a general knowledge of business operations.
  • High level interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as externally as part of talent acquisition processes and vendor relationships.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
  • An attention-to-detail, with a propensity to complete work accurately and with a focus on quality.
  • Initiative, the ability to multi-task and prioritize; good time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills; and flexibility to adapt and respond to shifting priorities.
  • Capacity to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to maintain composure, apply discretion, and maintain confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint required; knowledge of Google Suite tools preferred. HRIS (preferably UltiPro/UKG), applicant tracking system, or database skills are highly desired.

Physical Requirements Required to Perform Essential Responsibilities:

  • Sitting/mobility—to work at a desk and move around work areas.
  • Communications—to interact both in writing and verbally, via phone or in person.
  • Vision—to effectively use a computer screen and for reading and interpreting printed materials, memos and other paperwork.
  • Lifting/carrying—to carry files and supplies.
  • Reaching/handling—to input information into computer systems and retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment and supplies and complete filing.

While there may be flexibility for remote/hybrid work environments and to comply with tax and legal obligations, successful candidates must be residents of MD, DC, or VA or relocate prior to the start of employment at NDI.
