The Culinary Director will play a pivotal role in overseeing the culinary operations of the entire company. While menu development is an essential component of this role, the primary focus will be on serving as a liaison between yourself and the head chefs or executive chefs at each location. One of the key responsibilities will be to act as a listener and mentor, while facilitating effective communication and overseeing cost control measures, as well as handling major events.

 Main Responsibilities: 

  • Team Management and Development: 
    • Coach and mentor the chefs and kitchen staff, fostering a culture of creativity, and continuous development and education. 
    • Set expectations and hold the BOH leadership team accountable for demonstrating desired performance. 
    • Conduct thorough employee performance reviews. 
    • Manage the recruitment, hiring, scheduling, and training of the BOH management team.
  • Culinary Innovation and Menu Development
    • Lead the creation and development of innovative menus that align with our culinary vision and standards. 
    • Bring innovative ideas to menu creation in harmony with the establishment's spirit.
    • Ensure consistent high-quality food presentation across all locations.
    • Develop and implement culinary strategies to meet goals, considering market trends and guests' preferences.
    • Work closely with the executive Chefs and Head Chefs including other department leaders, to align culinary strategies with overall objectives.
  • Cost Control Measures:
    • Oversee budgeting and cost control measures to achieve financial targets and keep food costs at a minimum while maintaining quality standards. 
    • Monitor costs, manage budgets, and control expenses.
  • Regulatory Compliance: 
    • Uphold health and safety standards by enforcing strict sanitation protocols and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and food safety standards. 
    • Conducts quarterly kitchen audits.
  • Vendor Relations:
    • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the availability of high-quality ingredients.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in a culinary leadership role within the restaurant/hospitality industry.
  • Strong mentorship and communication skills.
  • Expertise in overseeing cost control measures.
  • Experience in managing major culinary events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workplace.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Korean cuisine is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to enhancing guest experiences and satisfaction.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs without assistance
  • Safely and effectively use all necessary tools and equipment
  • Stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant
