Summary

Job Duties
  • Serves as gatekeeper for substance abuse services in the clinic.
  • Oversees clinical improvement activities, including peer review, chart audit, and consultations.
  • Ensures that clinicians follow policies and procedures in accordance with organizational expectations.
  • Provides supervisory and staff training on a variety of behavioral health topics.
  • Reviews and evaluates patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Provides clinical direction to staff in evidence-based practices.
  • Establishes measurable goals and functional outcomes regarding standards of care.
  • Provide direct service to clients approximately 50 % of position. Services to include: intake, assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual/family/ and/or group counseling.
  • Oversees day-to-day clinical operations of Sedlacek Treatment Center.
  • Provides weekly caseload consultation to clinical staff and collaborates with consulting psychiatrist on treatment recommendations.
  • Provides training, education, and evaluation to staff on a variety of substance abuse specific clinical services.
  • Ensures clinical records are accurate, current and meet State of Iowa licensure requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees the family education program.
  • Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to lead, manage, and direct clinical staff to provide competent and effective therapeutic interventions.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate programs for effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of laws and ethical standards that pertain to behavioral health clinical care.
  • Experience with quality improvement and performance measurement.
Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in the behavioral health field is required, with at least 2 years supervisory experience.
Education
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling is required.
  • Specialized training in individual, group and/or relational counseling is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in treating psychiatric and substance abuse disorders is preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or International Alcohol and Drug Counselor (IADC) required within 1 year of hire. Currently licensed to practice as LMSW, or LMFT, LMHC, or LISW required upon hire.
  • Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required. Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to start or transfer date.
