Operations Manager



MISSION

The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for project coordination and communication. Proactive and clear communication from the OM to the client is essential to ensure the client is never surprised. Thorough communication between the OM and the installation team employees is essential to ensure they are always organized and prepared. Through diligent scheduling of labor, subcontractors, materials, and equipment, the OM will be able to smoothly relay information to all parties involved and achieve high levels of customer and employee satisfaction.



DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Client Management. Manage the client with consistent and clear communication in a manner in which there are no surprises for the client. This should be performed before, during and after the project installation. The client should always be updated with our schedule and be aware of equipment deliveries and subcontractor visits. Client walk-throughs should be performed a minimum of once per week if the client is able.
  • Pre-Construction Meetings. Coordinate pre-construction meetings for each project. Be organized and prepared for all meetings.
  • Labor Management. Communicate with, schedule, and manage all project managers and lead hands. They should always know where they need to be and when. Hold installation team members accountable for responsibilities.
  • Subcontractor Management. Communicate with, schedule, and manage all subcontractors.
  • Material Management. Order, schedule, and manage all material deliveries. Communicate with the project manager each day about when they prefer their deliveries and where. Communicate with vendors about scheduling adjustments as early as possible.
  • Equipment & Vehicle Management. Manage the repair and maintenance of all equipment. Leverage the project managers for assistance of delivery of their equipment and vehicles to the mechanic.
  • Other Management.
  • Restrooms. To be delivered to projects within 1-2 days before a project starts. Restrooms should be picked up immediately when projects are complete.
  • Miss Utility. Call miss-utility and manage re-marks as needed.
  • Inventory. Manage all inventory through the Sortly application.
  • Metrics. Understand the key metrics needed to be financially successful. Be accountable for your weekly and monthly scorecard numbers.
  • Scheduling. The LMN calendar should be updated at the end of each day with crew location, material deliveries, equipment deliveries and subcontractor visits.
  • Training. Coordinate, prepare for and execute shop training for the installation teams 6-9 times per year.
  • Continual Improvement. Cut waste and maximize efficiency with the use of LEAN management practices. Use analytics to constantly improve estimating systems.
  • Communicate consistently and clearly with Designers, Operations Controller, and suppliers. This includes uploading daily photos and passing along receipts to the Controller when necessary. Attend and participate in weekly, quarterly and annual team meetings.

DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Construction experience in Masonry, Hardscape, Swimming Pools, Carpentry, and all other high-end residential landscape installation types.
  • Experience with installation timelines and material staging preferred.
  • Experience with plant material and plant identification.
  • LEAN management training or certifications.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook knowledge.
  • Experience w/Dynascape or any AutoCAD based program.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND HOUR EXPECTATIONS

  • This position will be performed on-site at the projects, at the company office in Arlington and at home. You can expect to be on job sites 3-5 days per week, depending upon the nature of installation projects at a given time.
  • We will invest in your training and development. There may be 1-2 times annually where you will be expected to travel for conferences or training seminars.
  • Expect on average a 50-hour work week during peak seasons.
  • Rain days are still considered workdays for all operations positions.
  • Some Saturdays work will be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
