Technical Project Manager in Biostatistics

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is the largest research hospital in the United States with an annual research budget of approximately one billion dollars. The mission of MGH Biostatistics is to engage in trans-disciplinary partnerships involving quantitative methods in public health and biomedicine. The Biostatistics team includes over 70 members (21 faculty) who are deeply embedded in collaborative research projects across over 25 Divisions and Departments at MGH and beyond including cancer, cardiology, general internal medicine, global health, neurology, pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary and critical care medicine, and surgery.

Project Management

• Oversee project management and day-to-day operations of the NBR.
• Organize and schedule team meetings; produce and distribute meeting agendas and minutes; prepare reports on project status.
• Set goals for NBR activities; develop and maintain project timelines and deliverables; implement and oversee processes to ensure key tasks are completed in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Rapidly identify, communicate, and mitigate issues that are interfering with project deadlines, scope, or deliverables.
• Serve as the primary NBR liaison at RECOVER Data Resource Core (DRC) project management meetings; manage communications between NBR team and internal/external DRC stakeholders (e.g., NIH, project-specific leadership).
• Develop and contribute to key study documents including standard operating procedures and DRC training materials related to data management, manipulation, quality control, and error detection.
• Assist in the preparation of scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

• Master’s degree in Biostatistics or Statistics is preferred, but a Master’s degree in Epidemiology or Public Health with an emphasis in biostatistics or quantitative methods is acceptable. Master’s degrees in related fields may also be eligible.
• Two years of professional experience as a biostatistician in biomedical research.
• Strong communication skills including proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage time and priorities effectively, asking for direction when appropriate. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures.
• Strong background in advanced statistical programming using R.
• Ability to explain statistical/technical concepts to non-statistical/technical collaborators.
