Essential Functions: Manages road maintenance, signs and markings, electrical maintenance, vacant lots and construction projects and activitiesInspects and monitors road projects for compliance to contract specifications, MUTCD (Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices), local and state ordinances, laws and regulations, and budget constraintsExercises supervision over subordinate personnel
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Examples of Work: UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISIONAssists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expendituresPrepares reports on programs and completes special projectsEvaluates programs, policies, and procedures for effectiveness, and recommends modifications and improvementsEnforces safety procedures to ensure safe operation of equipment and employee safetyPlans, coordinates and manages road construction and maintenance activities, projects and programs for regional districtsInvestigates citizen complaints, and provides solutions to road condition and maintenance problemsMonitors and reports weather and road conditions and implements recommended plan of action for snow and ice removal, clearing roads of downed tree and debris from storms and floodsCoordinates district operations for emergency and disaster responseProvides technical assistance and instruction concerning traffic studies, road construction and maintenance projects, activities and operationsConducts field survey, drafts plans and drawings, provides specifications and work schedules for maintenance projects and activitiesCoordinates projects with utility companies and provides information on road projectsReviews road, utility easement, and right-of-way plans to determine accuracy and conformance to laws, regulations and engineering principlesPrepares cost estimates, bid specifications, and bid requests, and recommends the procurement of equipment, supplies, materials and servicesAttends meetings, provides information, and answers questions concerning public works operations and projectsConfers with contractors during construction and maintenance activities to resolve complaints, disputes or problemsPerforms related work
